Vehicle Story

This rust-free 1947 Ford Super Deluxe convertible street rod has been owned by the same person for more than 23 years and is powered by a 302ci Ford V8 built by Tri Star Engines and Transmissions backed by a rebuilt C4 automatic transmission. Features include power rack-and-pinion steering, power brakes, independent front suspension, frenched headlights and marker lights, custom Gene Winfield taillights, a cloth power convertible top, and air conditioning. This custom silver pearl and navy blue pearl Ford with a blue leather and gray cloth interior is available now and comes with hand tools and a clear title from the selling dealer.

This 1947 Ford Convertible was originally sold new in Phoenix, Arizona in 1947 and stayed there until its conversion into a street rod by Squeeg’s Kustoms. The exterior is refinished in custom silver pearl and navy blue pearl with an orange, plum, and blue break stripe and a PPG urethane clear coat. Custom features include frenched headlights and marker lights, frenched custom Gene Winfield taillights, and shaved doors, trunk, and hood, all equipped with hidden releases. The electric door solenoid actuators for the Bear Claw latches are located under the quarter panel. The door bottoms were extended 1.75 inches and the rocker panels were eliminated. Aftermarket rearview mirrors are mounted to the doors and color-matched to the blue body. The front and rear bumpers, including the gravel pans, have been shortened 1.75 inches. The rear gravel pan was attached and smoothed to the body. All visible bumper bolts have been shaved on the re-chromed bumpers. A custom gas filler door is located on the left rear fender. The windshield is a flush-mount V-butt unit without a center post. Billet windshield wipers have been mounted to the cowl and are powered by an aftermarket New Port Engineering electric wiper assembly. The one-button electric power convertible top with new hydraulic rams is covered with Hartz Stayfast cloth material and equipped with a full headliner and a glass rear window. A detailed video can be found below.

A set of polished aluminum Eric Vaughn Real Wheels with knock-off center caps are wrapped in Kelly tires in the front and Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires in the back.

The front bucket seats are upholstered in blue leather and gray cloth and match the rear seat. The blue and gray material carries into the custom door panels with billet manual window cranks and exit handles. Blue seat belts are mounted at all seating positions. Dark blue Italian wool carpet with matching floor mats covers the floor. The tilt steering column is topped with a polished aluminum Lecarra 4-spoke steering wheel with a blue leather grip. Climate controls are located to the left of the steering column with the headlight and wiper switches located on the right. There are three air conditioning vents located in the dashboard and an additional two located in the front kick panels. An aftermarket Sony AM/FM/CD head unit is mounted under the dash. The trunk area is covered with more dark blue Italian wool carpeting and features a space-saver spare tire with additional lug nuts mounted inside. A lug wrench, bag, and center cap removal tool are included.

The original dashboard has been replaced with a steel 1941 Ford dashboard refinished in blue with blue and orange accent striping. A 5-gauge billet aluminum panel houses a 120-mph speedometer with a 5-place odometer reading 55K miles and oil pressure, fuel level, voltage, and coolant temperature gauges. True mileage is unknown.

The engine is a Ford 302ci V8 built by Tri Star Engines and Transmissions and is backed by a rebuilt C4 automatic transmission equipped with a new torque converter and a shift kit. According to the dealer, the engine generates 350 horsepower. An MSD ignition, Tri Star Performance aluminum valve covers, an Edelbrock carburetor, an Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake, and an oval open-element air cleaner complete the engine.

The front suspension consists of a Mustang II crossmember with stamped steel control arms, strut rods, and QA1 coilover shocks. A power rack-and-pinion assembly controls the steering. The rear axle is from a Ford Maverick and is equipped with parallel leaf springs and a sway bar. Braking is handled by 11-inch Ford Granada front rotors and Maverick rear drums. The parking brake and neutral safety switch are in place to comply with the 23-point NSRA Vehicle Safety Inspection Program.

According to the selling dealer, Minnesota residents are responsible for tax, license, and title procurement fees. Out-of-state buyers will have to pay have a $125 Title Procurement fee.
