Vehicle Story

This 1969 Oldsmobile Toronado has been with the same family for the last 50 years. It comes in unrestored condition and is powered by a 455ci Rocket V8 paired with a THM425 3-speed automatic transaxle. This Toronado offers amenities that include wood trim, power windows and locks, a Wonderbar AM/FM radio, power steering, and power-assisted front disc brakes. Service history includes the recent replacement of the master cylinder and water pump, repairs to the oil and fuel sending units, and more. Finished in Autumn Gold over a gold vinyl interior, this first-generation Toronado is now offered with safety inspection paperwork, an appraisal report, and a clear California title.

The Toronado personal luxury car was first introduced in 1966 and came with Cadillac Eldorado underpinnings, a split front grille, and vacuum-operated hidden headlights. This 1969 Toronado reportedly wears its original Autumn Gold paint and black vinyl roof. According to a member of the family that has owned the car for the last 50 years, the car has always been parked and covered in a garage.

Steel 15-inch wheels are capped with stainless-steel full covers and wrapped in new Cooper Trendsetter SE whitewall tires. The front suspension uses torsion bars and the rear setup comes with a beam axle on leaf springs. Handling is assisted by power steering. Stopping power comes from power front disc brakes and rear drums. A brake service was carried out in 2021 that included the replacement of the master cylinder and brake lines.

The original interior features gold vinyl upholstery color-keyed with the lap belts, door panels, dash, headliner, and carpeting. The dash and steering wheel rim are accented with woodgrain trim. Additional amenities include power windows, power door locks, a push-button Wonderbar AM/FM radio, and a fold-down front center armrest. The seller notes that the car came equipped with air conditioning, but the compressor has been removed from the system.

Instrumentation includes a 130-mph barrel-style speedometer, an analog clock, a fuel level gauge, and warning lights for the coolant temperature, oil pressure, and alternator. The 5-digit mechanical odometer reads 2,890 miles, but the seller states the car has 102,980 miles.

The 455ci Rocket V8 features a four-barrel Rochester carburetor. A mechanical service in 2021 included the replacement of the water pump and valve cover seals and repairs to the oil and fuel sending units. Power is fed to the front wheels via a column-shifted THM425 3-speed automatic transaxle. According to the seller, the transmission pan has a small leak.

The sale includes safety inspection paperwork and an appraisal report.
