Vehicle Story

This 1970 Plymouth GTX with 65,641 original miles and its reportedly original body panels is powered by a big-block 440ci V8 engine that was rebuilt for a reported cost of $12,000 and sends its output to the road through a 3-speed automatic transmission. Features include power steering, air conditioning converted to R-134a refrigerant, a new alternator and headliner, BFGoodrich tires, and the Rallye gauge pack with a Tic Toc Tach. Refinished in its original Rallye Red with black stripes over a black vinyl interior, this GTX is available now and comes with an engine rebuild sheet and a clear title from the seller.

The body is refinished in its original Rallye Red (FE5) with black hood and midbody stripes. All body panels are reportedly original to the car and rust-free. A black vinyl top has been installed. Chrome and stainless trim, emblems, and handles are in place. The front bumper with impact strips and parking lights is mounted below a black and silver GTX honeycomb grill. The power-bulge hood is equipped with hood pins. A factory antenna is mounted on the passenger-side front fender. The rear bumper with reverse lights is mounted below four rectangular taillights set in a black-out panel.

The steel wheels with correct center caps and trim rings are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A blackwall radial tires.

The front bucket seats and the rear bench are covered in black vinyl. The black vinyl door panels have woodgrain inserts, chrome exit handles, and manual window cranks. The driver's door has a remote-control mirror. Black carpeting and GTX-branded front floor mats cover the floorboards. A new headliner was installed in January of 2022. The climate controls can be found above the radio. The steering column is topped with a 3-spoke black steering wheel with a half horn ring. A black center console with woodgrain inserts houses the 3-speed automatic shifter.

The black dashboard with new lighting is home to a Rallye gauge set including a Tic Toc Tach, a 150-mph speedometer, and readouts for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and alternator.

The rebuilt 505-horsepower, big-block 440ci V8 engine is connected to a 3-speed automatic transmission. According to the seller, $12,000 was spent on the engine rebuild performed by Sahara Dodge of Las Vegas, Nevada. Finned aluminum Mopar Performance valve covers, a dual-snorkel air cleaner with a 440 Super Commando label, and an air conditioning compressor converted to R-134a refrigerant are present. A new alternator and battery were installed in November of 2021. According to the seller, the oil was changed at 65,000 miles and the radiator was flushed at 65,759 miles.

All underbody floors and suspension components are matte black. The rear axle is a limited-slip unit. The full-length dual exhausts exit under the rear bumper.

An engine rebuild sheet is included with the purchase of the car.
