This 29K-mile 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle convertible was restored in 2008 under previous ownership and is powered by a reportedly date-correct rebuilt 396ci V8 engine backed by the seller-reported original TH400 automatic transmission. Features include SS 396 badges, rebuilt power front disc brakes and rear drums, the reportedly original and rebuilt front and rear suspensions, Cragar wheels, a replacement top, and BFGoodrich tires. Refinished in Garnet Red with white stripes and equipped with a black power convertible top over a black vinyl interior, this second-generation Chevelle is available now and comes with a clear Massachusetts title in the seller’s name.
The body was refinished in Garnet Red in 2008 and wears a black convertible top replaced in 2012. A chrome front bumper with integrated turn signals is mounted below the blacked-out grille with quad headlamps and an SS 396 emblem. The chrome rear bumper can be seen below the tail lamps with integrated reverse lights and SS 396 emblem mounted to the rear taillight panel. The dual oval-shaped exhaust outlets exit below the back bumper. White midbody accent stripes run the length of the body. Dual chrome outer rearview mirrors are mounted to the doors. The Soft Ray tinted glass is clear and free of cracks. An exterior video can be seen in the carousel to the right.
A set of 15-inch Cragar wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires that measure 215/70/15 in the front and 255/60/15 in the rear. According to the seller, the tires were replaced in 2021 under their ownership.
The front bucket seats are upholstered with black vinyl and come with headrests. Minor wear is visible at the bottom of the rear seatback. A matching full-width seat is in the rear. Black vinyl is carried onto the rear interior panels and door panels. Aftermarket speakers, manual chrome window cranks, and chrome exit handles with 396 emblems are present. Black carpeting with rubber Chevrolet floor mats covers the cabin floor. A black center console with a locking compartment houses the horseshoe shifter handle for the TH400 automatic transmission. GM seat belts are mounted at all seating positions. The black steel dashboard is home to switches for the electric windshield wipers, headlights, power top, climate control system, and aftermarket dual-knob radio. A locking glove box can be seen to the right below an SS 396 trim strip. A black vinyl pad is mounted to the top of the dashboard. The steering column is topped with a 2-spoke steering wheel with an SS emblem.
A 120-mph speedometer with a 5-place odometer currently showing 26,803 miles and a combination gauge with a fuel level readout and warning lights for the coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage are mounted behind the 2-spoke steering wheel. An aftermarket twin gauge pod that shows the oil pressure and coolant temperature is located underneath the ashtray in the center of the dashboard. An interior video can be seen in the carousel to the right.
The engine is a reportedly date-correct rebuilt 396ci V8 equipped with mostly original engine accessories that makes 375 horsepower and sends its output through the seller-reported original TH400 automatic transmission with new fluids and gaskets. Chrome-plated valve covers, an Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum intake manifold, a chrome open-element air cleaner, a power steering pump, and aftermarket headers complete the engine. The 4-barrel Edelbrock carburetor was replaced in 2015 and minor electrical improvements were made in 2021 under current ownership. A power brake master cylinder with an aftermarket proportioning valve, electric windshield wipers, and a wiper fluid reservoir can be seen under the hood. A video of this Chevelle starting can be seen in the carousel to the right.
The reportedly original rebuilt front suspension with stamped steel upper and lower control arms and a sway bar and the rebuilt seller-reported original rear suspension with a solid axle and a 12-bolt positraction differential are matte black. The rebuilt power front disc brakes and rear brakes as well as the front and rear shocks replaced under prior ownership are present. Additional photos can be seen in the gallery.
