1976 Jeep CJ5 Renegade

This 1976 Jeep CJ-5 Renegade 4x4 sport-utility vehicle comes with a removable tan cloth top, side-exit exhaust, mud tires on chrome-finished wheels, and interior comforts including a center console, a Sony audio system, and a padded rollbar. It draws power from a V8 that sends power to all four corners through a 3-speed manual transmission and a 2-speed transfer case. Finished in Root Beer over a black vinyl interior, this Renegade is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.

The CJ nameplate first appeared in the 1940s as a civilian version of military-grade utility vehicles. Chassis engineering revolved around a body-on-frame with high ground clearance and a removable top. The following decade, the CJ-5 variant debuted in model year 1954 and went through a redesign in 1972 when it received a stretched wheelbase and a new box frame. This CJ-5 Renegade from 1976 is painted Root Beer with yellow and orange Renegade graphics. The body is capped by a removable tan cloth top with matching doors and plastic side windows. Additional features include a fold-forward windshield, chrome headlight rings, side-exit exhaust pipes, black-finished side mirror housings, and a full-size matching spare on a swing-away carrier at the rear.

Chrome-finished 15-inch wheels are wrapped in Mud King XT tires with good tread remaining. Steering is power-assisted.

The interior is equipped with black vinyl bucket seats up front, a two-seat bench in the rear, and matching carpeting, center console, and sun visors. The metal dashboard is color-matched to the Root Beet exterior. Amenities include a padded roll bar and a Sony AM/FM/CD sound system.

Instrumentation includes a centrally-mounted 90-mph speedometer along with auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, and voltage. The 5-digit mechanical odometer reads 75K miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

A V8 motor provides power to all four wheels via a floor-shifted 3-speed manual transmission, locking hubs, and a 2-speed transfer case.
