This 1940 Ford pickup was treated to Resto Mod customization with a Vintage Air climate control system, a Sony sound system, and refurbished materials both inside and out. Underneath the airbrushed hood resides a Chevrolet small-block 327ci V8 that is paired with a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission and sends power to the ground through a Ford 9” rear end. This pickup has covered 11,000 trouble-free miles under the seller’s ownership and reportedly runs and drives well thanks to a Rochester carburetor setup and triple cooling fans. Finished in Jet Black with accenting flames over a light burgundy tweed interior, this pickup is now offered with a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.
This 1940 Ford pickup was the subject of a complete restoration under prior ownership in St. Louis, Missouri and boasts a rust-free body with a coat of Jet Black topped by accenting flames at the nose. Finishes are said to be in good condition throughout, although there is a small ding on the body noted by the seller. Exterior illumination has been upgraded to modern LED bulbs including additional safety lighting affixed to the rear trailer bar, and the cargo area wears a Bedrug protective liner over replacement wood planks with newer run strips and hardware.
Red-finished steel wheels with chrome center caps are wrapped in BFGoodrich tires with good tread remaining. The suspension is comprised of a custom heavy-duty setup using Ford Mustang II independent components up front and an air-lift airbag system in the rear controlled and monitored by an onboard compressor and gauge. The rack and pinion steering system is power-assisted.
The cab conveys reupholstered burgundy tweed seating and the headliner, doors, and panels have an embossed 3D treatment. Interior materials are reported to be in good condition throughout, and the doors feature replacement window felts and rubber channels. Amenities include a Vintage Air A/C system, Ford-branded rubber floor mats, and a newer Sony sound system with remote control and Bluetooth connectivity.
Instrumentation is delivered via a cluster of aftermarket gauges in a bright bezel, including a speedometer and auxiliary readouts for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The odometer reads 14k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The replacement Chevrolet small-block 327ci V8 features a Rochester tri-power carburetor setup with mechanical linkage and the cooling system uses triple fans. As configured, the drivetrain has been rated at 300 horsepower per the seller. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission with a hydraulic shifting system and a Ford 9” rear axle.
