This 1974 Plymouth Road Runner two-door coupe features a 440ci V8 paired with an automatic transmission. It features power steering, headers, a Mopar intake, a Holley carburetor, and power brakes. Finished in orange with white accents, it has a white vinyl interior with front bucket seats and an aftermarket air/fuel ratio gauge on the dash that was installed by the previous owner. This Road Runner is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.
The second-generation Road Runner launched in 1971 with a more rounded "fuselage" design that included a steeply raked windshield, hidden cowl, and recessed grille and headlights. This 1974 example from the last year of the second generation is finished in orange with white side and roof striping. Brightwork highlights the grille, window surrounds, door handles, and front and rear bumpers. According to the seller, the chrome and brightwork are in solid shape and the paint shows well.
Orange steel wheels with center caps are wrapped in Cavalier XRS front and Hercules rear tires.
The interior is fitted with white vinyl bucket seats and a matching rear seat and door panels offset by black carpet. There are some wear spots on the seats, but the carpeting and headliner are reported to be in good shape. A radio is fitted in the dash and the center console features woodgrain trim that surrounds the shifter for the automatic gearbox. The heater hose is hooked up and the blower fan functions. Other features include power steering, power brakes, and manual window cranks. According to the seller, there is a crack in the dash on the passenger's side.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and alternator. The previous owner added an aftermarket digital air/fuel ratio gauge on the dash. The 5-digit mechanical odometer reads 49,168 miles, but true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
Beneath the hood sits a 440ci V8 with updates including headers, a Mopar intake, and a Holley carburetor. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through an automatic transmission with a manual valve body and a floor-mounted shift lever.
Additional photos showing the underside and the dual exhaust system are available in the carousel.
