This 2012 Chevrolet Camaro COPO (Central Office Production Order) is a factory-configured race car that was designed for the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) Stock Eliminator and Super Stock classes and assembled as unit #38 of 69 for the year. Under the hood, a 425-horsepower 427ci V8 is paired with an ATI Racing 2-speed automatic transmission and sends power to the rear via newer tires on polished aluminum wheels. This Camaro was originally sold to its first owner in Wichita, Kansas, and later purchased by a Canadian owner who has had the vehicle for one year. As a race vehicle, this Camaro does not have a conventional VIN and therefore cannot be registered, licensed, or legally driven on public roads. Finished in Silver Ice Metallic with flat black graphics over a black interior with dual bucket seats, this fifth-generation Camaro is now offered with a window sticker and purchase documentation.
The fifth-generation Camaro went into production for the 2010 model year with exterior design led by GM Holden in Australia. A COPO series of Camaro models were originally created in 1969 and equipped with performance drivetrain equipment not available via conventional channels. Over four decades later, Chevrolet reintroduced the COPO name in 2012. This Camaro is number 38 of 69 assembled for 2012 as a track-focused performance coupe. The body is finished in Silver Ice Metallic with flat black graphics and has been kept in climate-controlled storage. This car features fog lamps, a domed hood, and a rear lip spoiler. The seller notes that fewer than 20 drag race passes have been made in this Camaro under current ownership and that the best quarter-mile time was 9.68 seconds at 142 mph.
Polished aluminum staggered-width Bogart Racing wheels are wrapped in race tires. According to the seller, the rear tires were replaced in November of 2021. Braking comes from four-wheel discs and handling is provided by adjustable front coil-over struts and a 4-bar rear suspension.
The interior has race-specific equipment including a reportedly NHRA- and IHRA-certified 8.50 chrome-moly roll cage, a window net, dual racing bucket seats, a 5-point harness, a Hurst shift lever, auxiliary switches, and black carpeting. Sound-deadening material and many power accessories were omitted from the factory for optimized weight and balance.
Instrumentation includes a 200-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, and factory-issued auxiliary gauges. An additional 10k-rpm tachometer with a shift light is mounted to the driver-side A-pillar. The gauge cluster does not have an odometer, which means true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The naturally aspirated, fuel-injected 427ci V8 was factory rated at 425 horsepower when new and received new fluids in November of 2021. Power is fed to the rear wheels via an ATI Racing 2-speed automatic transmission and an ATI Racing torque converter. Fuel is managed by an Aeromotive fuel system.
The sale includes a window sticker. The seller has provided a video below.
