This 1956 Ford F100 short-bed pickup has been owned and garage-kept by the seller for 50 years. In 2009, it was put through a frame-off restoration that included the upgraded 1957 Thunderbird-sourced 312ci Y-block V8 being rebuilt and wood bed slats being added to the cargo box. Other features include aftermarket power steering, BFGoodrich tires, and a 3-on-the-tree manual transmission with overdrive. Finished in yellow over a tan vinyl bench-seat interior, this second-generation F-Series truck is now offered with service records and a clear Virginia title.
The second generation of the F-Series pickups launched in 1953 brought larger dimensions and modified equipment. The subsequent 1956 model was recognizable as a one-year-only body style with vertical windshield pillars and a wrap-around windshield. This F100 from that year was purchased by the seller in 1972 and was subjected to a 2009 frame-off restoration that involved the rust-free body being repainted yellow. The seller indicates that there are some cosmetic blemishes, including some spots on the hood, paint chips on the running boards, and a bubble on the joint of the bed. The bed floor features wood planks along with stainless-steel hardware. Other features include chrome brightwork, side-exit exhausts, a tow receiver, and an embossed drop-down tailgate.
Body-color steel 15-inch wheels with polished hubcaps are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Steering is power-assisted. An alignment was performed in January of 2021.
The interior of the cab is equipped with a tan vinyl bench seat and black lap belts along with brown door panels, a matching dash, and rubber flooring material. Amenities include a radio and a heater. The seller has provided images showing some tears in the seat bottom.
Instrumentation consists of a 90-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, and readouts for the vacuum pressure, oil pressure, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The 5-digit mechanical odometer reads 90K miles, but true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The 1957 Thunderbird-sourced 312ci Y-block V8 was rebuilt in 2009 and has been maintained by the seller throughout the last 50 years. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive and 3.73 gearing.
Another photo of the undercarriage is in the picture gallery.
The sale includes service records.

@Buttercup56 – Hello Sir, I am handling the sale of my dad’s truck for my mom (with the help of his good friend). My dad passed suddenly from Covid in January. The truck should pull your boat no problem. We grew up towing a heavy fiberglass ski boat from CA to Lake Mohave each summer and then across country when we moved. My dad also towed his Model A as well as his restored 1973 VW Bug (separately) through the mountains when they moved to VA. The truck had no problem at all. My dad’s beautiful truck towing the VW Bug was quite the sight! People were pointing and taking pictures the whole way. I’m sure the truck with your boat would be amazing and quite eye catching! My dad was a VERY talented mechanic and restorer. Everything he did was meticulous and top notch. His Model A was even featured on the cover of Restorer Magazine May/June 2021. He did beautiful work! ...
Hello Sir: I appreciate the return Email. It sounds incredible to me, as it would great to see a 50 year old boat in MINT CONDITION with a 66 year old truck hooked together. Let the bidding begin and hopefully we can grab this baby. Thank you, Mark from Needles, Ca on the Colorado River.
@needlesmark – Hello Sir: How will this 312 Y pull a boat? I own a spectra 20 V drive and it is about 3500#! Would like your thoughts on this as it will pull only to a LOCAL ramp that is 4 miles away! Both would look great together (Eye catcher). Thank you Mark--Needles, Ca ...
