This 1994 Volkswagen Bus is a Brazilian-market Type 2 that received an interior camper-style conversion complete with new amenities including a sink, cabinetry, wooden flooring, modular seating and sleeping accommodations, and more. Power comes from a rebuilt 1.6-liter air-cooled flat-4 paired with a 4-speed manual transaxle and is directed to the ground via a newer set of Firestone tires on factory 14-inch wheels. Finished in a matte blue wrap with a white upper body and roof over a blue vinyl and gray cloth interior, this Type 2 Bus is now offered with a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.
The Volkswagen Type 2 bus was sold in various world markets under various names such as Transporter, Kombi, and Microbus and in panel van, passenger van, and pickup body styles. The history of the Type 2 model dates back to 1967 and extends through 2013 in parts of South America. This 1994 model was originally allocated to the Brazilian market and later imported to the United States. It has a rust-free body refinished in a matte blue wrap with a white upper body and roof. Accents include white bumpers, black headlight surrounds, and black side mirror caps. The exterior features barn-style entry doors on the passenger side, a roof-mounted luggage rack, a driver-side ladder, and a pull-back soft roof covering.
Factory 14-inch wheels are wrapped in Firestone 185-series tires with 70 percent of their tread remaining, according to the seller.
The interior was refurbished from ceiling to floor with camper-style amenities including wood cabinetry, replacement flooring material, a sink, side curtains, a table, and gray cloth benches that convert into sleeping areas. The front bucket seats have gray cloth and blue vinyl upholstery. The seller notes that the interior was not used after the conversion was performed.
Instrumentation includes a 150-kph speedometer, a fuel gauge, and auxiliary warning lights for other vehicle systems. The 5-digit mechanical odometer reads 58K kilometers, which the seller asserts is actually 158K kilometers or approximately 98K miles. True mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The rear-mounted, air-cooled 1.6-liter flat-4 was rebuilt. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted 4-speed manual transaxle. The seller notes that there is some play in the steering wheel.
The seller has posted exterior, interior, and road test videos below.
