This 1966 Chevrolet Corvette convertible was built in St. Louis, Missouri in December of 1965 and has fewer than 2,500 miles on its big-block 427ci V8 that was rebuilt, bored, and stroked to 498ci. The powertrain has been upgraded with Wiseco pistons, a Comp cam, and a 750-cfm carburetor, and sends power to the rear via a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. The seller has garage-kept the vehicle for seven years and describes it as a rust-free example. Finished in original Mosport Green with a tan retractable top over a Green vinyl interior, this C2 Corvette is now offered with receipts, the uninstalled original hubcaps, and a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.
Launching in 1963, the second-generation Corvette took on what became known as Sting Ray design language. Visual and equipment changes were carried out in 1964 and 1965, including the smoothing of the hood, the addition of vents in the front fenders, and modified rocker panel moldings. In 1966, the front end received an egg-crate grille and a center hood emblem. This garage-kept 1966 Corvette convertible has a rust-free exterior finished in Mosport Green (982) and is equipped with a tan cloth retractable top. The body features hideaway quad headlamps, triple fender vents, side exhaust pipes, bright surrounding trim, and split bumpers.
Aluminum five-spoke Intro wheels are wrapped in low-profile tires. Power braking is provided by four-wheel discs; steering is power-assisted.
The two-seat interior is fitted with Green (430) vinyl bucket seats and the remainder of the cockpit is color-matched. Amenities include a Vintage Air HVAC system, a vertically mounted push-button radio, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. A tear in the driver's seat is visible.
Information is presented by a 160-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, an analog clock in the center stack, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. A 5-digit mechanical odometer tracks mileage accrued, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown. According to the seller, there are approximately 2,500 miles on the upgraded engine.
The big-block 427ci V8 was bored and stroked to 498ci during a rebuild in 2015 and received an oil change this year. Performance equipment includes a 750-cfm Quick Fuel Technology double-pumper carburetor, an electric in-tank fuel pump, Wiseco pistons, Brodix heads, a COMP Cams hydraulic roller cam, a Vintage Air Front Runner drive system, a pulley system, and a RAM clutch. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a console-shifted Muncie 4-speed manual transmission.
Additional undercarriage photos can be found in the gallery.
Receipts and the uninstalled original hubcaps will be included with the sale.
