This 1965 Ford Mustang coupe was restored in 1997 and comes with a rebuilt A-code 289ci V8 modified to accept unleaded fuel and the reportedly original 4-speed transmission. Features include GT badging, an aftermarket AM/FM cassette stereo, a 5-gauge instrument cluster, manual windows, a newer dual-circuit master cylinder, a rebuilt carburetor, and dual exhaust outlets integrated into the lower rear fascia. A protective bra, a set of mag wheels with whitewall tires, and the uninstalled original AM radio will be included with the sale. This Rangoon Red Mustang with a black vinyl roof over a black vinyl interior is available now and comes with a clear California title from the seller.
In 1997, this Mustang was stripped down to its frame, sandblasted, restored, and refinished in the original color of Rangoon Red (Code J), verified by the door mounted warranty tag. Features include GT Package emblems, lower side stripes, dual exhausts in the rear valance, and grill-mounted fog lamps as well as a black vinyl top, the original windshield and trim, a remotely adjustable driver-side mirror, and chrome front and rear bumpers. According to the seller, the body has a few minor nicks and scratches.
A set of black steel wheels with full Mustang hub caps are wrapped in Hankook whitewall radial tires. According to the seller, the tires are two years old.
The front bucket seats are upholstered in black vinyl and accompanied by a matching rear bench seat, interior trim, and door panels. Features include a 3-spoke black steering wheel with chrome accents, manual windows, seat belts, black carpet with black Mustang-branded floor mats, a floor-mounted 4-speed manual transmission shifter, a black steel dashboard with a locking glove box, and an aftermarket AM/FM cassette stereo.
The dashboard instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, amps, and coolant temperature. The 5-digit odometer shows just under 97,500 miles and the seller reports having added approximately 30 of those in the past year. True mileage is unknown.
The power is provided by a rebuilt A-code 289ci Ford V8 with rebuilt heads and hardened valve seats. That is connected to the reportedly original 4-speed transmission equipped with a clutch replaced in 1997. Features include gold stamped steel valve covers, a gold closed-element air cleaner with a 289ci decal, and a 4-barrel carburetor rebuilt last year. According to the seller, only 25K miles have been put on the engine since the rebuild.
A dual-circuit manual master cylinder installed last year provides stopping power for the front discs and rear drum brakes. The chrome exhaust tips of the full-length dual exhaust exit through the rear valance.
A protective bra, a set of mag wheels with whitewall tires, and the uninstalled original AM radio will be included with the sale.
