This restored 1964 Pontiac GTO convertible with a reportedly $10,000 new paint job has spent the majority of its life in Arizona and is powered by a numbers-matching 389ci engine, Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission, and driveline, according to the seller. Equipment includes a tri-power conversion, power steering, a power top, and a tachometer. This 1964 Pontiac GTO drop-top is available now and comes with PHS Historic Services documentation, an original owner’s manual, and a clear title in the seller's name.
Restored 10 years ago, the exterior of this first-year GTO convertible was refinished in Nocturne Blue. The exterior features tinted factory glass, a split grille, quad headlights, dual hood scoops, wheel well and rocker trim, a white convertible top, reverse lights, and horizontal taillights. A full exterior walk-around video can be seen in the carousel to the right.
The steel Pontiac Rallye II wheels with stainless trim rings and Pontiac center caps are wrapped in Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTS raised-white-letter tires.
The front bucket seats are upholstered in blue vinyl along with the matching rear seat, door, and rear interior panels. The seller states the glove box is signed by Pontiac adman Jim Wangers. Equipment includes a 4-speed center console with a locking compartment, an AM radio, manual windows, a woodgrain 4-spoke steering wheel, and blue carpet with rubber Pontiac-logo floor mats front and rear.
The vehicle information is provided by four round analog gauges including a 120-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, a fuel gauge, and indicator lights for the coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The seller states that the 15K mileage figure shown is accurate according to the title.
A reportedly numbers-matching 389ci V8 engine, Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission, and driveline send power to the rear wheels. The engine has been converted to a tri-power intake system. Chrome valve covers and three open-element air cleaners complete the engine.
Additional undercarriage photos can be found in the gallery.
PHS Historic Services documentation and an original owner’s manual will be included with the sale.
