Vehicle Story

This 1962 Ford Falcon four-door sedan is a well-maintained and largely original compact sedan that received mechanical work including a new radiator, an overhauled fuel system, and new brake components under current ownership. Up front resides a 2.4-liter Mileage Maker straight-6 paired with a 3-speed manual transmission, and the cabin conveys all-new upholstery including a replacement headliner and matching door panels. This Falcon reportedly spent long-term residence in Texas and has a straight, rust-free body. Finished in red over a black vinyl interior, this first-generation Falcon is now offered with service records and a clear Georgia title in the seller’s name.

The Falcon model first went into production in 1960 on a unibody chassis, serving as a scaled-down version of the larger Ford Galaxie sedan. Body layouts were available in two-door, four-door, station wagon, coupe utility, and sedan delivery variants. This four-door Falcon from 1962 displays a rust-free body and was repainted in its original red shade under prior ownership around 2005. The body showcases good-condition chrome brightwork for the bumpers, grille, trim, and badging. The seller notes that the window seals have been replaced and there is light surface rust exhibited on the exterior.

Smoothed chrome-finished wheels are mounted to new tires. The braking system uses drums both front and rear, having been recently serviced with a new master cylinder. The suspension benefits from replacement air shocks in the rear.

The interior was overhauled and features new black vinyl seat covers both front and rear, as well as replacement materials for the door panels, headliner, and carpeting. Features include an aftermarket console and cupholder, a crack-free dash, and a locking glove compartment.

Instrumentation is delivered by a sweeping 100-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, a coolant temperature gauge, and warning lights for other vehicle systems. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 19k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The 2.4-liter Mileage Maker straight-6 was rated at 95 horsepower. Recent maintenance includes replacement of the fuel tank, sender, fuel lines, a rebuilt carburetor, and an updated electrical system. The seller also indicates that the radiator, battery and cables, exhaust manifold, and starter solenoid were replaced. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission.

Additional undercarriage photos can be found in the gallery.

The sale includes service records.
