This 1962 Volvo PV544 Sport two-door sedan has been in the same family for the past 52 years and with the current owner for the last 10 years. It was repainted under previous ownership and fitted with new rear main and pinion seals, valve cover gasket, and headliner within the past two years under the seller's ownership. Features include bright bumpers and trim, aftermarket wheels, rear stone guards, and an AM/FM radio. Power from the 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine is sent to the road through a 4-speed manual gearbox and the rear wheels. Refinished in white over a tan and light brown vinyl interior, this PV544 Sport is available now and comes with a clear Arizona title in the seller's name.
In 1958, Volvo introduced the PV544 as an update to the PV544 with a curved one-piece windshield and updated powertrain hardware. This 1962 PV544 Sport was repainted white under previous ownership and features chrome bumpers with guards, a driver-side mirror, metallic side trim bars, black rear fender stone guards, an external fuel cap, and a single exhaust tip below the driver's side of the rear bumper. The seller notes the paint has imperfections.
The car rolls on a set of 10-hole wheels and tires with black sidewall lettering.
Inside, this PV544 features tan bucket front seats, a brown rear bench, brown door panels with armrests, an ivory dashboard with a black carpeted top pad, and charcoal carpeting with black front floor mats. It comes equipped with manual window cranks, an AM/FM radio, a locking glovebox door, quarter glass pop-outs, a carpeted rear deck with an integrated speaker, and a new headliner installed last year. The seller reports this car does not have air conditioning.
Vehicle information is conveyed through a 120-mph speedometer and coolant temperature and fuel gauges. The rolled-over 5-digit odometer indicates 10,373 miles, but true mileage is unknown.
The PV544 was available with the larger B18-series of 4-cylinder engines. The 1.8-liter I4 in this PV544 is connected to a pair of side-draft carburetors and delivers its power to the road through a 4-speed manual transmission and the rear wheels. According to the seller, the valve cover gasket and rear main and pinion seals were replaced in April of 2022. The engine oil, different fluid, and other fluids were changed in March of 2022.
When this PV544 left the factory, it had worm-and-roller steering, a front suspension with double wishbones and coil springs, a rear suspension with a live axle and coil springs, and drum brakes all around. Additional photos showing the condition of the car's underside are available in the gallery to the right.
