This garage-kept 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Super Snake coupe has been driven 13,179 miles since new and is powered by a supercharged and intercooled 5.4-liter V8 paired with a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission. It was originally customized at the authorized Shelby modification center in Cranston, Rhode Island and first registered in October of 2007. Having been in Florida since new, this S197-series Mustang features 20-inch Alcoa wheels, an adjustable panhard bar, a dual exhaust system, and an official Carroll Shelby signature. Finished in Alloy with matte black striping over a black leather interior, this GT500 Super Snake is now offered with documentation, manuals, uninstalled parts, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.
Codenamed the S197 internally, the fifth-generation Mustang pony car went into production for the 2005 model year with a design by Sid Ramnarace. Ford’s Special Vehicles Team (SVT) rolled out a Shelby GT500 variant two years later as a successor to the 2003-2004 SVT Cobra. This GT500 is painted Alloy (code G5) with matte black accent striping. This is a Carroll Shelby Mustang (CSM) registered car complete with the Super Snake package and body features including a hood scoop, hood retention pins, Cobra badging, fog lamps, a carbon fiber front splitter, a rear decklid spoiler, a Super Snake fuel cap, and dual polished exhaust outlets. The seller has provided detailed images of cosmetic blemishes in the photo gallery.
Multi-spoke 20-inch polished aluminum Alcoa wheels are set inside of staggered-width Yokohama Advan 265/35-series front and 325/30-series rear tires. The SVT-tuned suspension has an adjustable aftermarket panhard bar and a live axle rear. Stopping power comes from Baer two-piece slotted and drilled brakes with 6-piston front calipers.
The monochromatic black cockpit is fitted with power-operated leather sport bucket front seats, matched to the door panels, dash, center console, carpeting, Shelby-branded floor mats, and rear seats. Amenities include power windows, power door locks, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, air conditioning, Florida-legal 3M ceramic window tint, and a Shaker 500 sound system with a six-disc CD changer. A placard on the center of the dash identifies this car as CSM 08SS0350. An official Shelby signature is located on the map light housing near the rearview mirror.
Instrumentation consists of a 160-mph speedometer, an SVT-branded 7K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and boost pressure. An additional trio of gauges is housed at the top of the center stack. The digital odometer reads 13,179 miles. The last mileage figure entered on the CARFAX report was 3,652 miles in December of 2009.
The supercharged and intercooled 5.4-liter V8 uses a Kenne Bell supercharger and a Superchips tuner with a resulting power output in excess of 725 horsepower, according to the seller. Recent maintenance includes an oil change. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a console-shifted Tremec TR6060 6-speed manual transmission and Richmond 3.73 gears. A cold-start video is available for viewing below.
The CARFAX report describes this as a one-owner vehicle and shows a history free of accidents or damage. The sale includes documentation, the uninstalled rear brake scoops, and an extra set of rear brake rotor hats.
