1985 Mercedes-Benz 500SEL

This 1985 Mercedes-Benz 500 SEL is a European-specification luxury sedan with an extended wheelbase, heated leather seats in both rows, woodgrain trim, power convenience options, and automatic climate control. It was first registered in the United States in 2000 and shows ownership in Arizona and Colorado over the past two decades. Under the hood is a 5.0-liter M117 V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Finished in white over a blue leather interior, this W126 500 SEL is now offered with a CARFAX report and a clear Colorado title in the seller’s name.

The second-generation S-class series of Mercedes-Benz luxury sedans debuted in 1979 with two available wheelbase lengths and various drivetrain configurations. Aerodynamics had been improved from prior versions and evolutionary styling was applied to the exterior. This 500 SEL from 1985 was originally issued to the European market and subsequently imported to the United States. The white paint finish is accompanied by bright accents for the bumpers, wheel arch moldings, mirror caps, and window surrounds. Features include headlight wipers and a power-operated sunroof. The seller notes minor cosmetic blemishes on the exterior.

Bundt 14-inch wheels are wrapped in reportedly new tires. According to the seller, the suspension is sound. The seller advises that the anti-lock disc braking system operates intermittently and the dash light for that system is illuminated.

The cabin is equipped with power-operated and heated blue leather seats in the front and back rows as well as matching door panels, dash, console, and carpeting. Amenities include power windows, automatic climate control, cruise control, and woodgrain trim.

Vehicle information is communicated through a 160-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel economy. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 176K miles, although the CARFAX lists this vehicle as having a Not Actual Mileage title.

The 5.0-liter M117 V8 features Bosch fuel injection and sends power to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 4-speed automatic transmission.
