This custom 1960 Chevrolet Apache stepside pickup has been driven approximately 1,150 miles since the completion of a full nut-and-bolt restoration encompassing exterior work, a refreshed interior, and a mechanical overhaul of the 350ci small-block V8. Features include power brakes and steering, an automatic transmission, aluminum wheels, a side-exit dual exhaust system, bright accent trim, custom upholstery and sound, and more. Finished in satin black over a black leather interior, this Apache is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear Texas title.
Succeeding the Chevrolet Task Force series of pickups that dated back to the mid-1950s, the C/K series first launched in 1960 in medium-duty and heavy-duty variants using a two-door cab configuration. The redesign brought a lower cab and improved chassis stability, among other improvements. This black Apache from that initial year comes in a stepside bed layout and was the subject of a complete cosmetic and mechanical overhaul within the last 150 miles. Equipment includes chrome bumpers, quad headlights, stainless steel side mirror housings, a driver-side mounted spare tire, chrome bed rails, and side-exit exhaust outlets ahead of each rear tire. The wooden bed planks and stainless steel hardware in the cargo area were replaced as part of the refurbishment. The selling dealer has provided photos of various stages of the restoration process in the photo carousel.
Aluminum multi-spoke wheels are wrapped in Cooper Discoverer ATS raised-white-letter tires. The front end uses an independent suspension supported by control arms and torsion bar springs. The rear has a coil-sprung axle with trailing control arms. Power braking is provided by front discs and rear drums. Steering is power-assisted.
The cab features a bench seat reupholstered in custom pleated black leather with accent stitching, tied in with the door panels, dash, shifter console, and carpeting. Amenities include a wood steering wheel, a $3,000 sound system consisting of a retro-style head unit wired to two 4" Kicker under-dash speakers, an under-seat subwoofer, and a Rockford Fosgate amplifier, and aluminum pedals.
Instrumentation is held within a bright bezel and includes aftermarket gauges consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and auxiliary readouts for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The digital odometer tracks accrued post-restoration mileage, which the selling dealer states is 1,150. True mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The small-block 350ci V8 is fed by a Holley carburetor. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through an automatic transmission with a floor-mounted T-handle shift lever.
Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.
