Vehicle Story

This 1968 Ford Mustang is a rust-free sports coupe with a refreshed interior and a reportedly numbers-matching 289ci V8 that has been upgraded with an FI Tech fuel-injection system. A 4-speed manual transmission sends power to a set of Cragar aluminum wheels on Kumho tires at the rear, and additional features include a radio, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and aftermarket gauges. Finished in Aqua Blue over a blue vinyl interior, this first-generation Mustang is now offered with spare parts and a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.

The Mustang pony car was brought to market in the mid-1960s at the conclusion of the T-5 project which was led by Ford’s Chief Engineer Donald Frey. A few years later, the 1968 models rolled out with newly-added side marker lamps, different side scoops, and a revised fuel cap. This Mustang from that year was repainted Aqua Blue in 2021 under prior ownership and displays a rust-free, straight body. Equipment includes fog lamps, bright bumpers, stainless-steel rocker panel moldings, and a concave taillight panel. As shown in the photo carousel, some trim parts are uninstalled but included with the sale.

Polished aluminum Cragar wheels are wrapped in newer tires with a mixed set of Goodyear Assurance and Kumho tires.

The cabin is fitted with reupholstered low-back blue vinyl bucket seats and the color scheme is carried through to the door panels and dash while contrasted by black carpeting and Mustang-embroidered floor mats. Features include a wood-rimmed steering wheel, lap belts, and a radio. The trunk is lined in a plaid mat and contains a Kumho spare tire and the relocated battery.

Instrumentation is presented by a 120-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, and an aftermarket coolant temperature gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 25k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The reportedly numbers-matching 289ci V8 features an FI Tech fuel-injection system, an aluminum radiator, and chrome-finished dress-up accents. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted 4-speed manual transmission.

Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.

The sale includes spare parts and trim components.
