Vehicle Story

This 1980 Toyota Celica is an unmodified two-door notchback coupe that was manufactured in Japan in July of 1980 and is powered by a 2.2-liter 20R inline-4 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. It includes equipment such as a pop-up sunroof, a quartz clock, full gauges, air conditioning, and a luggage rack. Finished in metallic silver over a blue plaid cloth and vinyl interior, this second-generation Celica is now offered with an owner’s manual and a clear title.

The Japanese-built two-door Celica sports car initially went into production for the 1970 model year and used a platform that was shared with the Carina sedan, which was slightly larger than the Corolla. A second generation was rolled out in 1977 with a design by David Stollery; a facelift in late 1979 added square headlights and revised taillights. This Celica notchback coupe from 1980 is painted metallic silver and comes equipped with black bumpers, side mirror caps, and bodyside moldings. Features include quad headlights, a pop-up sunroof, marker lamps, and a trunk-mounted luggage rack.

Steel 14-inch wheels with polished trim rings are set inside of tires with black sidewall lettering.

The interior is equipped with bucket seats wearing blue plaid cloth inserts and vinyl borders. Recent repairs were carried out on the driver's seat bolster. Amenities include a push-button AM/FM radio, a quartz clock, and air conditioning.

Instrumentation is presented within an aluminum bezel and includes an 85-mph speedometer, 8K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 60,670 miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The carburetor-fed 2.2-liter R20 inline-4 received a recent water pump replacement. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 4-speed manual transmission.

Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.

The sale includes an owner’s manual and a comprehensive video is available for viewing below.
