This 1967 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova SS two-door sports coupe is powered by its numbers-matching 283ci V8 that has been enhanced with an Edelbrock 600-cfm carburetor, custom pushrods and lifters, a PerTronix ignition system, and a Magnaflow exhaust system. It was manufactured in Willow Springs, Michigan and sold new by De Anza Chevrolet in Riverside, California. The car has stayed in California its entire life and retains its rebuilt numbers-matching Saginaw 4-speed manual transmission and 10-bolt rear end with 3.08:1 gearing. Finished in Butternut Yellow over a black vinyl interior, this second-generation Nova is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer with records, removed original parts, an owner’s manual, the original Protect-O-Plate, and a clear California title.
The compact Chevy II Nova used semi-unibody construction and rode on the General Motors X-body chassis when it debuted as a 1962 model. A restyle was executed in 1966 that brought new styling with squared-off design language and vertical taillights. This Nova two-door from the following year was the subject of an exterior and interior restoration under prior ownership approximately 8 years ago that involved a repaint in the factory Butternut Yellow (Y) and the installation of a new old stock (NOS) grille, SS emblem, and chrome locking gas cap.
Silver-finished 14-inch steel Rallye wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich Silvertown redline tires dated 2013. The braking system offers upgraded front discs and rear drums. The suspension received Bilstein shock absorbers, Moog ball joints, Calvert Racing traction bars, and Church Boys Racing rear springs as part of the refurbishment. The axle seals and bearings have also been replaced.
The interior is dressed in black vinyl (780) bucket seating with white accent striping, matched to the lap belts, door panels, dash, headliner, and carpeting. Equipment around the cabin includes a radio, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a center console, vinyl floor mats, and newer trim panels with Super Sport badging. The selling dealer notes that there is surface discoloration on the trunk floor.
Instrumentation includes a sweeping 120-mph speedometer, a NOS ribbon-style 6K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary Shiftworks gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 94K miles, but true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The numbers-matching 283ci V8 bears casting #V0330PQ and is fed by an Edelbrock 600cfm four-barrel carburetor. Additional performance enhancements performed in 2014 include a custom camshaft, pushrods, and lifter; an aluminum intake manifold; Hedman Elite headers; a PerTronix ignition system; MSD spark plug wires, and a dual exhaust system with Magnaflow mufflers. Recent maintenance includes an oil change and tuning of the carburetor and timing within the last 2,000 miles. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a rebuilt numbers-matching Saginaw 4-speed manual transmission that received a replacement throwout bearing, linkage, and Hayes clutch in 2018. The rear end is an original 10-bolt setup with a 3.08:1 gear ratio.
Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.
The sale includes the original Protect-O-Plate showing an initial owner in Riverside, California, an owner’s manual, license plate frames, records, and removed parts including the factory carburetor/intake manifold, clock, fuel gauge, and car cover.
