Vehicle Story

This 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sport 4WD sport utility vehicle is off-road ready with a 2-inch suspension lift, 32-inch tires, front and rear stabilizer bars, and Dana axles. Under the hood, the 4.0-liter PowerTech inline-6 is paired with a 3-speed 32RH automatic transmission and a 2-speed transfer case. This Wrangler was originally sold new in Hastings, Minnesota, and was relocated to Kansas in 2003 where it remains today. Finished in Solar Yellow over a black cloth interior, this TJ-series Wrangler is now offered with a pair of uninstalled tube doors with a hanger, a mesh bimini top, an owner’s manual, a list of equipment, a CARFAX report, and a clear Kansas title in the seller’s name.

The Wrangler four-wheel drive off-road sport utility vehicle was formally launched in 1986 and resembled its CJ-7 predecessor. A second generation was rolled out in 1997 under the TJ nomenclature. This 2001 Wrangler has a rust-free body that was repainted in 2019 to its original Solar Yellow color and a black cloth top with plastic windows. The rear bumper was replaced at the time of the repaint. Body features include a new windshield, fog lamps, swing-away mirrors, and a full-size rear-mounted spare tire.

Machined aluminum 15-inch five-spoke wheels with silver-painted pockets are set inside of 32-inch Mastercraft tires with good tread life remaining. The coil-sprung suspension has front and rear stabilizer bars, high-pressure gas-charged shock absorbers, and a 2-inch lift for additional clearance. The front end is equipped with a Dana 30 axle; the rear end has a Dana M35 unit. Steering is power-assisted.

The interior is fitted with high-back bucket seats wearing newer Rough Country covers along with a rear bench, newer carpeting, and other matching materials. Features include air conditioning, a radio with five speakers, and a leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel. The seller notes that the shifter handle is loose.

Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer, a 6K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges that display the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The digital odometer reads 167K miles, which is in line with the last mileage figure entered on the CARFAX report.

The 4.0-liter PowerTech inline-6 is paired with a cold air intake, console-shifted 3-speed 32RH automatic transmission, and Command-Trac four-wheel-drive system with a 2-speed transfer case. According to the seller, the most recent service included an oil and transmission fluid change in April of 2022. The starter was replaced in 2018.

Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel. The seller notes that the underbody underwent some rust repair and has since been undercoated.

The CARFAX report shows an accident reported in December of 2010 with minor damage to the front of the vehicle. The sale includes an owner’s manual, a mesh bimini top, a list of equipment, and a pair of uninstalled tube doors with hangers.
