This 1983 Porsche 928S is a grand touring sports coupe powered by a 4.7-liter M28 V8 paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. It was sold to its first owner in Chicago, Illinois, and later relocated to Tennessee where it has been owned by the seller for approximately eight months. The exterior was previously repainted and the interior provides full-leather upholstery with conveniences including power windows, a power sunroof, and an AM/FM/CD stereo. Refinished in Bronze Metallic over a burgundy leather interior, this 928S is now offered with a spare set of factory wheels, an owner’s manual, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear South Carolina title in the seller’s name.
Designed as a luxury grand tourer, the 928 went into production in 1978 as a flagship model for the Porsche lineup. The body used aluminum for the doors, front fenders, and hood for weight savings and featured polyurethane bumpers integrated into the front and rear. This 928 from 1983 was repainted Bronze Metallic under prior ownership. The exterior comes equipped with a chin spoiler, fender flares, pop-up headlights, and an integrated rear spoiler.
The 16-inch flat-disc wheels show some pitting. The 928 uses a power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering system and four-wheel vented disc brakes.
The 2+2 interior is upholstered in full burgundy leather for the power-adjustable bucket seats, door panels, and headliner with matching materials for the center console, dash, and carpeting. Amenities include an electric sunroof, an AM/FM/CD stereo, a digital clock, power windows, power door locks, and a carpeted area under the rear hatch. The seller notes that the dash has some checking near the windshield.
Instrumentation includes a 170-mph speedometer, a 7,600-rpm tachometer, and accompanying gauges for the coolant temperature, voltage, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 120K miles, which is in line with the mileage shown on the CARFAX report.
The 4.7-liter M28 V8 uses L-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 234 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a rear-mounted 5-speed manual transaxle.
The seller notes that there is slight surface rust on the underbody.
The CARFAX report shows a vehicle history free of accidents or damage. The sale includes an owner’s manual and an extra uninstalled set of factory wheels.
