This two-owner 1996 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT coupe has been driven 6,196 miles since new and is powered by a Vortech-supercharged 4.6-liter V8 paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lok limited-slip differential. This Mustang was initially issued to Texan Ford in Katy, Texas and has been in the same region its entire life, receiving consistent inspections throughout. Finished in Laser Red over a black leather interior, this fourth-generation Mustang is now offered with a window sticker, an SVT certificate, promotional documentation, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear Texas title in the seller’s name.
Known internally as the SN-95, the fourth generation of the Mustang pony car came to market in 1994. This Mustang Cobra from 1996 was performance-tuned by Ford’s Special Vehicle Team (SVT) and wears its original coat of Laser Red paint which is in a condition consistent with the car’s low accrued mileage. A certificate from the Ford Special Vehicle team classifies this Mustang as vehicle #2,500 out of a production run of 7,496 units. The seller notes that there is a small dent on the trunk lid and there are scratches on the bumper. The exterior features fog lamps, black mirror caps, Cobra badging, a rear spoiler, and a stainless steel dual-exhaust system.
Aluminum 17-inch Cobra R wheels are surrounded by low-profile tires. The suspension has been lowered two inches on coilovers. Braking is handled by power-assisted anti-lock discs. Steering is power-assisted with a 14.7:1 ratio.
The four-passenger interior is fitted with black leather sport bucket front seats, matched to the door panels, dash, console, carpeting, and rear seats. Features include cruise control, air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, a rear defroster, power mirrors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, illuminated visor mirrors, and tinted windows. The Preferred Equipment Package 250A allocates a Mach 460 audio system with a CD player as well as an anti-theft system.
White-faced instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, voltage, and oil pressure. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 6,196 miles, which is in line with the mileage shown on the CARFAX report.
The Vortech-supercharged 4.6-liter DOHC V8 has been upgraded with headers and a performance exhaust system. The CARFAX report shows service that was carried out in March of 2022 including an oil change, body lubrication, PCV valve replacement, and repairs to the instrument cluster. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lok limited-slip differential.
Additional undercarriage photos can be found in the gallery.
The CARFAX report shows an accident- and damage-free vehicle history. There is an open manufacturer recall dated December of 2000 pertaining to the park brake control assembly with a remedy available. The sale includes SVT documentation, promotional materials, and a window sticker showing an original MSRP of $26,645 including destination and delivery.
