Vehicle Story

This 1962 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is powered by a 1981 350ci Chevrolet V8 engine backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. Features include 4-wheel manual disc brakes, a Hurst shifter, and power steering. This white C1 Corvette with a body-color hardtop over a red vinyl interior is available now and comes with receipts, the removed soft top frame, and a clear Texas title.

The exterior of this Corvette convertible was refinished in white in 2012 under previous ownership. Features include quad headlights, chrome front and rear bumpers, driver- and passenger-side mirrors, a body-color removable hardtop, and quad taillights. The removed soft-top convertible frame is included with the sale; the seller notes that it needs to be reupholstered.

A set of 18-inch chrome Boss wheels is wrapped in tires with black sidewall lettering.

The bucket seats and matching door panels are upholstered in red vinyl. Features include red carpeting, a floor-mounted Hurst 4-speed manual transmission shifter, a red dashboard, an aftermarket stereo head unit, and a 4-spoke aluminum steering wheel with a red leather grip.

A 160-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, battery voltage, and oil pressure are mounted in a red gauge pod ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 41,841 miles, but the true mileage is unknown.

Power is provided by a 1981 350ci Chevrolet V8 engine backed by a 4-speed manual transmission with a Hurst shifter. Features include an aluminum open-element air cleaner, aluminum valve covers, a chrome alternator, and a rebuilt 4-barrel carburetor. According to the seller, all fluids have been changed, the cooling system has been flushed and pressure-checked, belts and hoses have been replaced, and a new battery and fuel filter have been installed.

This Corvette came from the factory equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle on a perimeter frame. The manual brakes have been upgraded to disc brakes at both ends and equipped with new pads, calipers, and dust shields. According to the seller, new sway bar bushings and links have been installed and the gas tank sending unit has been replaced.

The removed convertible top frame and receipts are included with the sale.

It appears that an independent rear end has been installed in this car, perhaps from a 63 or later car? Is that correct?
