This 1968 Ford Mustang Bullitt Tribute is finished in Highland Green over a black interior and is powered by a rebuilt 302ci V8 motor paired with a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission. Originally built at the San Jose, California plant on November 13, 1967, the car was delivered Marv Tonkin Ford in Portland, Oregon. It has been fully restored under the current owner to resemble the Mustang driven by Steve McQueen in the 1968 film Bullitt. Features include coil-over suspension, disc brakes, air conditioning, Torque Thrust wheels, power windows, and more. Located in Eugene, Oregon, this Mustang is now offered for sale on with records & photos from the restoration, a Marti report and a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.
The car was refinished to its original shade of Highland Green using a two-stage basecoat/clearcoat. During the restoration, the car was placed on a rotisserie and stripped down to bare metal. Minor rust repair on the rear floor was required, while the rest of the metal on the body is original, with additional photos available in the gallery. Modifications from stock include a 1967 front grille and body-colored rocker panels and the tail panel wrapped in black vinyl to emulate the car used in the movie. The bumpers and windshield are new, and all emblems and scripts were removed for a cleaner look.
The car is equipped with 15" American Racing Torque Thrust featuring a brushed lip and paint dark gray centers to match the original movie car. The BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires measure 215/60 on all four corners. A Heidts front cross-member was installed, equipped with tubular control arms, coil overs, sway bar, and rack & pinion steering. Wilwood discs provide braking on all four corners with power-assist.
The interior features reupholstered black bucket seats along with matching carpet, door panels, and dash. Dynamat sound-deadening material was installed on the floors, ceiling, and doors prior to reassembling the interior. Features include air conditioning from Vintage Air, as well as power windows, a Flaming River tilt steering column, Custom Autosound vintage-look radio, and an overhead console. According to the Marti Report, the car also came equipped with a sport deck rear seat and the Interior Décor Group.
The factory instrumentation has been upgraded with Classic Instruments gauges, comprised of a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, coolant temperature gauge, fuel gauge, and oil pressure gauge. The six-digit aftermarket odometer reads 1.3k miles, which is mileage since completion of the restoration.
The car is powered by a 302ci V8 that has been rebuilt with performance modifications. Dyno'd at 375hp at the crank performance enhancements include a Holley 650 four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock manifold. AFR aluminum cylinder heads, a Comp cam, Griffin radiator, Scorpion roller rockers, DSS forged pistons, flame thrower ignition, a March Sport Track pulley system, ARP bolts, RAM billet flywheel, and a RAM clutch. The transmission is a Tremec TKO 5-speed manual, with a 500 lb-ft, 10-spline input shaft, sending power to the rear wheel through a Currie 9" rear end.
Additional photos showing the underside and restoration process are provided in the gallery.
The sale includes service records, restoration photos dyno performance reports, a Marti Report, and a car cover.
