This 2004 Ford Thunderbird convertible has been driven 35,480 miles since new and is powered by a 3.9-liter V8 paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Maintenance on this retro-styled personal luxury car includes the replacement of the coils, spark plugs, and fluids. Finished in Merlot Metallic over a two-tone ivory and black leather interior, this 11th-generation Thunderbird is now offered with two keys with remotes, a body-color hardtop, a hardtop cradle, a protective hardtop cover, a CARFAX report, and a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.
Positioned as a personal luxury car, the Thunderbird model dates back to the mid-1950s and subsequently evolved through 11 generations. In 2002, the most recent iteration was introduced to the marketplace as a retro-styled, two-seat convertible with a removable hardtop on the DEW98 platform. Trim levels included the Deluxe and Premium variants. According to Ford production data, this Thunderbird Premium from 2004 is one of 12,757 total units produced for the year and is painted Merlot Metallic. Features include a power-operated convertible top, a color-matched removable hardtop with porthole windows, fog lamps, a hood scoop, and polished dual exhaust outlets. The seller states that the exterior is in good condition aside from small stone chips on the front end.
This Thunderbird rides on an independent suspension system, chrome 17-inch wheels, and Goodyear Eagle Sport tires. Stopping power comes from power-assisted anti-lock disc brakes.
The two-seat cabin is fitted with power-operated ivory leather bucket seats and a matching steering wheel, contrasted by black door panels, console, dash, and carpeting. Amenities include power windows, power door locks, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a stereo system.
Instrumentation consists of a 160-mph speedometer, 7K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer reads 35,480 miles, which is in line with the mileage shown on the CARFAX report.
The 3.9-liter Jaguar AJ35 V8 was rated at 280 horsepower and 286 lb-ft of torque when new. According to the CARFAX report, it received dealership maintenance in September of 2021. The coils and spark plugs have been replaced, per the seller. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 5-speed automatic transmission with a SelectShift manual shift mode.
Additional undercarriage photos can be found in the gallery.
The CARFAX report shows an accident in January of 2021 that caused minor rear-end damage. The sale includes two keys with fobs, a body-color hardtop with a protective cradle and cover, a spare tire, jack, and accessories.
The last bidder typed in $180,000 by "mistake." Could this have been a ploy to insure that no one would up his bid during the final seconds of the auction?

@WilliamBruce – In 2004, Ford had two red colors for the Thunderbird: Torch Red & Merlot. This looks to be Merlot. Is that correct? Thanks. William Bruce. ...
Yes it is merlot! Rare color only found on 2004s.

@tdamiani – I apologize - I was answering in the wrong place. My zip is 34609 FL The interior and top have no flaws at all - perfect. There are three places on the body that are not perfect. There is a chip on the engine hood where it meats the grill. There are hazy scratches on the back bumper. You cant see them unless you look at it in a certain. Lastly, on the driver front fender there is a small blemish. I will take close ups of each and forward them to you. ...
I sent two pictures. The faint scratches in bumper, I can't capture in a picture, maybe I'm just being too fussy. It is a beautiful car., you won't be disappointed. Runs as good as good as it looks.
