This 1961 Mercedes-Benz 190SL convertible has been with the same owner in California since 1985 and was repainted in 1989. It is powered by a reportedly numbers-matching combination of a carbureted 1.9-liter inline 4-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission. Features include power brakes, an aftermarket Pioneer AM/FM/cassette stereo, and new tires. The vehicle had been previously sold on 4/9/22 and is being relisted after the winning buyer failed to follow through on their bid, through no fault of the vehicle more seller, This white 190SL with a black fabric top and black leather interior is available now and comes with records going back to 1984 and a clear title from the selling dealer.
The exterior was reportedly repainted in 1989 and has chrome and stainless trim, emblems, and handles in place. A canvas black top with a plastic back window has been installed. A chrome bumper with bumper guards is mounted at the front under the headlights, grille, and amber turn signals. At the rear, a chrome bumper with bumper guards is mounted below the taillights with integrated reverse lights, external fuel cap, and blue California license plate.
The Mercedes steel wheels with full body-color tri-star hubcaps are wrapped in reportedly new blackwall radial tires.
Dual bucket seats are upholstered in black leather extending to the door panels and armrests, which include chrome manual window handles, exit handles, and manual locks. Black carpeting, which was reportedly installed in 1988, covers the cabin floor and rear cargo area. The convertible top has a cream interior lining and bows and fits under a black convertible boot. The white metal dashboard has an aftermarket Pioneer AM/FM/cassette radio installed. The dashboard top pad is covered in black leather and features a rearview mirror mounted in the center. The steering column is topped with a 2-spoke Mercedes steering wheel with a full circle horn ring and tri-star logo horn button.
The dashboard houses a 140-mph speedometer with a 5-place odometer reading 67,431 miles, a 7K-rpm tachometer, and oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level gauges. A clock is mounted in the glove box at the right.
The engine is a 1.9-liter inline 4-cylinder connected to dual Weber downdraft carburetors and a 4-speed manual transmission. The windshield washer bottle and power brake booster can be seen in the engine compartment.
This Mercedes is equipped with a 4-wheel independent suspension that includes front dual wishbones and rear trailing arms with coil springs.
This Mercedes will come with a restored hardtop that has reportedly not been installed since 1985. The selling dealer has been unable to put it on the car properly and thinks it may be the wrong top. In addition, vehicle records dating back to 1984 will be included with the sale of the vehicle.
