This right-hand-drive 1958 Bentley S1 four-door British luxury sedan received a $15,000 mechanical overhaul approximately 18 months ago and has been garage-kept for the past three decades, according to the seller. The reportedly numbers-matching 4.9-liter F-head inline-6 benefits from a rebuilt fuel pump as well as a rebuilt starter and sends power through a refurbished 4-speed automatic transmission to the rear whitewall tires. Finished in two-tone green over a tan leather interior, this S1 is now offered with a New York Registration Document in the seller’s name.
The S1 luxury sedan was produced by Bentley Motors Limited beginning in 1955 in Cheshire, England. This S1 from 1958 was manufactured with right-hand drive and wears a two-tone green paint scheme. The seller notes that the car was garage-kept for three decades in climate-controlled storage. The body is dressed in chrome brightwork for the bumpers, grille, handles, and window surrounds. Additional features include fog lamps, fender-mounted mirrors, a hood ornament, and European-spec license plates.
Steel 15-inch wheels with color-keyed polished covers are wrapped in whitewall tires.
The cabin is furnished with tan leather bench seats that coordinate with the door panels, carpeting, and floor mats. Additional features include woodgrain trim, a front fold-down armrest, and fold-down tray tables for the rear passengers. As shown in the photo carousel, the seats show creasing consistent with their age.
Instrumentation includes a 110-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and amps. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 47K miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown because the odometer does not work.
The reportedly numbers-matching twin-carbureted 4.9-liter F-head inline-6 underwent servicing by a Bentley specialty technician 18 months ago. The work encompassed over $15,000 in expenditures and included a steam-cleaning of the fuel tank, a rebuild of the fuel pump and starter, a refurbishment of the 4-speed automatic transmission, and cleaning of the electronics.
The four-wheel drum brakes were replaced within the last 18 months.
