Vehicle Story

This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS was built in Arlington, Texas in the third week of April 1970 and was reportedly with its previous owner for 30 years. It is powered by a 454ci V8 built to LS6 specifications and backed by a 1965 Muncie M22 Rock Crusher 4-speed manual transmission. Features on this documented 45K-mile Chevelle include a 12-bolt positraction rear end, a Holley carburetor, original sheet metal, most of the original paint, a cowl-induction hood, original GM T3 headlights, and power front disc brakes. This Tuxedo Black 1970 Chevelle with white stripes and a black vinyl interior is available now and comes with a clear title.

The body wears most of its original Tuxedo Black paint over reportedly all original sheet metal and white stripes on the cowl-induction hood and trunk. According to the seller, over the years, this Chevelle was repainted in areas and the paint shows some age but is still showable. Chrome, stainless trim, emblems, and handles are in place. A chrome bumper, a stock grille with Chevelle and SS emblems, and original GM T3 headlights can be found in the front. A chrome bumper housing the taillights and an SS emblem can be found above the dual exhaust at the rear.

A set of Chevrolet 5-spoke Magnum steel wheels are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle ST white-letter radial tires. All four wheel wells feature brightwork trim.

The original pearl white interior was replaced with black in the 1980s, according to the seller. The current black vinyl covers the two front bucket seats and matching rear bench seat. The door panels with SS emblems and manual window cranks and exit handles are black as well. Black carpeting covers the floorboards throughout. The headliner is black pinhole vinyl. An AM radio is mounted in the factory location and an aftermarket oil pressure gauge is mounted below. The front seats are separated by a black center console housing a 4-speed shifter, a locking compartment, and seatbelt holders. The black steering column is topped with a 2-spoke black steering wheel with an SS emblem. The trunk is splatter-painted and has a floor mat and a matching spare tire cover.

The black dashboard is topped with a black dash pad and houses a 120-mph speedometer with a 5-digit odometer showing 45K miles, a 7K-rpm tachometer, a clock, and amp, coolant temperature, and fuel level gauges.

According to the seller, the engine is a 454ci V8 built to LS6 specifications. The engine is era-correct and date-coded correctly but is not numbers-matching to the car. It is a 512 4-bolt main block cast in 1970 with 291 rectangular port heads, a 3569 Winters Foundry aluminum intake, a 780-cfm Holley 4-barrel carburetor, an 811 water pump with deep-groove high-performance pulleys, and an 837 37-amp alternator. A 1965 Muncie M22 Rock Crusher 4-speed manual gearbox sends power to the rear wheels.

The seller states that original red primer can be seen showing through in spots on the body floors. The rear axle is a 12-bolt positraction unit with 3:31 gears and suspended by reinforced lower control arms. Dual exhausts exit under the rear bumper.

I told you yesterday the paperwork was unreadable. I also never said that I new for sure it was an LS6. It's not being advertised as an LS6.

@Wienke – I don't believe that this is a clone but all documentation is missing. I have seen enough of these to tell the difference. ...

I just sold a real one. You have the wrong motor, trans and rear end. If the rear was correct I would have believed it to be real. It should have 3:90 gears not 3:31's. the parts on the car that refer to an LS6 can be bought anywhere, its the hard parts and PAPERWORK, that you don't have that matters. You promised me paper work this morning only for you to say its unreadable. RED flag for me. Sorry to dissapoint you. Good luck with your sale.

Thanks for the information. I just didn't see it moving in the video. My experience with them are as you said they activate during accelerations but also during start up and shut down.
