Vehicle Story

This pro-street 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu two-door hardtop is a performance-upgraded Super Sport tribute powered by a small-block 350ci V8 that has been bored .030 over to 355ci and is upgraded with Dart heads, a Lunati camshaft, and forged pistons. Torque is transferred to the rear via a B&M shift lever, a 3-speed TH350 automatic transmission, and a 12-bolt axle with 4.88 gearing. This street-legal Chevelle blends high performance with heightened safety thanks to a full rollcage, racing harnesses, and Wilwood disc brakes up front. Finished in navy blue with silver striping over a black and gray interior, this custom second-generation Chevelle is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear Virginia title.

Following its launch in 1964, the Chevelle continued to evolve each year with engineering updates and in 1968, a second generation came to the marketplace with all-new exterior design. The General Motors A-body platform provided the framework for this midsize model and in 1970, the sheetmetal was revised. All 1971 models received fresh front and rear styling with single-beam headlights and integrated marker lamps. This race-built Chevelle Malibu two-door hardtop from 1971 was repainted navy blue with silver striping in 1995. The front and rear bumpers are fiberglass composite, and body features include SS badging, a cowl hood with retention pins, and chrome wheel arch moldings.

Polished aluminum 15-inch Weld Racing Prostar wheels are wrapped Mickey Thompson ET Street drag radials in staggered sizing. Features include Mark Williams hi-torque axles and a custom suspension setup with ladder bars and adjustable coilovers. Stopping power comes from Wilwood discs up front.

The cockpit is fitted with black cloth racing buckets with blue safety harnesses. A black tubular rollcage with swing-out bars has been installed, and additional features include a B&M shifter and a trunk-mounted fuel cell.

Instrumentation is provided by aftermarket gauges with a speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 23K miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The small-block 350ci V8 has been bored .030 over and is upgraded with Dart heads, a Lunati camshaft, and forged pistons. Power output is an estimated 500 horsepower per the selling dealer, and quarter-mile dragstrip finish times are in the low 11-second range. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission with a manual valve body and a 12-bolt rear end with 4.88 gearing.

A $299 dealer fee will be added to the purchase price.
