This 1991 Ford Mustang LX convertible is a rust-free Texas pony car powered by a 5.0-liter high-output V8 paired with a rebuilt 4-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 16-inch chrome Cobra wheels, a BBK air intake, a modern CD audio system, and power conveniences. Finished in white with a newer black convertible top over a red cloth interior, this third-generation Mustang is now offered with service records, a CARFAX report, and a clear Texas title in the seller’s name.
Debuting for the 1979 model year, the third-generation Mustang pony car was based on the Fox platform and offered in coupe, convertible, and hatchback body styles. A facelift was applied for 1987 which gave the car a restyled front end with composite headlamps and new taillights. This white Mustang convertible from 1991 features black beltline moldings, a replacement black cloth top, a rear spoiler, and a dual exhaust system. The seller notes that there are some blemishes on the paint including a crack on the left rear quarter panel with surface corrosion. The electronic retractable top mechanism is not working but the top can be lowered manually.
Chrome 16-inch Cobra wheels are wrapped in tires with black sidewall lettering.
The interior is fitted with red cloth bucket front and bench rear seats, and contrasting black materials for the upper dash, console, door panels, and carpeting. Amenities include a modern stereo, power windows, and power door locks. The seller notes that the air conditioning does not work well and the heater core has been bypassed so there is no heat.
Instrumentation consists of a 140-mph speedometer, 7K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 11K miles and the CARFAX report shows odometer inconsistencies. Mileage is believed to be 111K miles, although true mileage is unknown.
The 5.0-liter high-output V8 was rated at 225 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque when new and has been upgraded with a BBK intake. Recent maintenance includes the replacement of the distributor cap and spark plug wires. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a rebuilt 4-speed automatic transmission that was overhauled in 2018.
The CARFAX report shows minor damage in July of 2018 to the front of the passenger's side. There are mileage inconsistencies noted on the CARFAX report in 2009, 2013, and 2021 related to the five-digit odometer. The sale includes service records.
