This 1957 Plymouth Belvedere sedan is finished in Carnival Red over a two-tone vinyl interior and is powered by a 301ci V8 engine paired with a 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. The car was sold new and spent most of its life in California before being relocated to Alabama and then split time between Michigan and Florida when the current owner acquired it 17 years ago. Located in Livonia, Michigan, this Belvedere is now offered for sale on a clean Michigan title in the sellers name.
The car is finished in Carnival Red with white side accents extending the length of the side of the car and the roof is matched in the same white. As part of the "Foward Look" series designed by Virgil Exner, the car features oversized tailfins on the rear quarters with elongated and angled taillights. Additional styling elements include fender-mounted side view mirrors, one of which needs to be reinstalled, dual headlights on each side, and multi-piece chrome bumpers. The windshield has been recently replaced and the seller states the body is free of any rust.
Factory 14” steel wheels with chrome full hubcaps are mounted to new Coker Classic wide whitewalls in 215/75 on all four corners. The car came factory-equipped with power steering and power brakes.
The interior is fitted two-tone bench seats upholstered in vinyl with patterned cloth inserts, the front driver's side insert is splitting on both the upper and lower sections. The door panels are white with gold fabric inserts while the carpet and dash pad is black. The seller indicates there are additional interior items to be addressed including the headliner sagging in some areas, a minor tear on the A-pillar upholstery and the passenger side kick panel needs to be replaced. Lap belts have been added front and rear for safety and the car retains its factory radio in the dash, which is currently inoperable due to it not being connected.
The gauge cluster is surrounded by a corrugated aluminum trim panel and consists of a 120-mph speedometer, along with an analog clock and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. There are warning lamps for oil pressure and voltage. The 3-speed TorqueFlite transmission is controlled through a push-button shifter located to the left of the instruments. The five-digit odometer reads about 29k miles, however, true mileage is unknown. The seller has added about 8k miles over 17 years of ownership.
The 301ci V8 engine features red-painted valve covers to match the exterior as well as electronic ignition. The fuel pump was changed in 2019 while the seller indicates that the rear brakes will be due for service soon, and the car has a minor oil leak. Power is sent to the rear wheels via the push-button TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission.
Additional photos showing the underside are provided in the gallery.
The sale includes two rear fender skirts, a car cover, and service records from throughout the seller’s 17-year ownership.
