This 1974 Volkswagen Beetle has been driven fewer than 5,000 miles since a mechanical overhaul and was owned by the same family for more than 45 years. Its power comes from an upgraded rear-mounted 1,500cc flat-4 paired with a 4-speed manual transaxle. According to the selling dealer, this Beetle rides and looks like new. Finished in red over a black vinyl interior, this Beetle is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear Florida title.
The compact Beetle economy car dates back to the late 1930s when it was first manufactured and marketed in Germany. It was offered in two-door saloon and convertible variants in the decades that followed. In the 1970s, design changes included a larger rear window, revised taillamps, and the addition of energy-absorbing bumpers. This red Beetle from 1974 was owned by the same family since 1976. Exterior features include fender-mounted marker lamps, chrome brightwork, a driver-side mirror, and dual polished exhaust outlets.
Steel 15-inch wheels with chrome center caps are wrapped in whitewall tires.
The interior is fitted with black vinyl front bucket and rear bench seating and black door panels, dash, carpeting, and floor mats. Featured include manual crank windows and a stereo in the dash.
Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer and an inset fuel gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 4K miles, which the selling dealer states correspond to 104K actual miles. True mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The rear-mounted, carbureted 1,500cc flat-4 features twin-port cylinder heads and was installed within the last 5,000 miles per the selling dealer. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted 4-speed manual transaxle.
