This two-owner 1980 Fiat Spider 2000 roadster has been garage-kept under the seller’s ownership for 37 years and generates power from a 2.0-liter inline-4 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. Features a Pininfarina exterior design, an upgraded mahogany steering wheel, and a custom exhaust system. Finished in black with red pinstriping over a tan vinyl interior, this Spider is now offered with an owner’s manual, a Fiat 124 Spider shop manual and parts catalog, a vinyl top boot, and a clear New Jersey title.
The original Fiat Spider cabriolet was a sports car introduced to the marketplace in 1966 with design language from Pininfarina. Model year updates brought revisions to the design language including modified bumper designs in the 1970s. This black Spider from 1980 has red pinstriping and a retractable black convertible top. The body features chrome bumpers, window trim, and rocker moldings; a trunk-mounted luggage rack; and a custom exhaust system with twin chrome outlets. The seller who has owned the vehicle for 37 years notes that one of the bars in the convertible top framework is not properly attached, so it requires extra care to be raised and lowered.
Steel 13-inch wheels with polished trim rings are wrapped in tires with black sidewall lettering.
The cabin is fitted with tan vinyl bucket seats matched to the door panels, center console, and carpeting. Amenities include a mahogany steering wheel and woodgrain trim across the face of the black dashboard.
Instrumentation includes an 85-mph speedometer, 8K-rpm tachometer, analog clock, and auxiliary gauges that display the fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 66K miles, which the seller states is an accurate reading.
According to the seller, the 2.0-liter inline-4 has an oil leak and idles roughly upon start-up. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 3-speed automatic transmission.
The suspension uses unequal-length wishbones and coil-over dampers at the front and a coil-sprung live rear axle.
The sale includes an owner’s manual, a Fiat 124 Spider shop manual and parts catalog, and a vinyl top boot.
