This 1970 Dodge Super Bee two-door hardtop is set up for street driving as well as track time, harnessing power from an upgraded big-block 440ci V8 that has performance parts such as a Holley Dominator carburetor, a nitrous system, and Brodix aluminum heads. It was reportedly raced under prior ownership but is currently street-legal and comes with equipment including a fiberglass cowl-intake hood, aluminum wheels, a rear spoiler, a Dana 60 rear end, and a TorqueFlite A727 3-speed automatic transmission. Refinished in Sublime Green over a black vinyl interior, this first-generation Super Bee is now offered by the selling dealer with uninstalled original parts including a 440ci engine, an A727 automatic transmission, a drive shaft, a water pump core, and the original brakes and a clear New Jersey title.
The mid-sized Super Bee muscle car went into production in 1968 based on the Coronet two-door model and leveraged the Chrysler B-platform. It had similarities to Plymouth’s Road Runner but rode on a slightly longer wheelbase and came with different trim including Super Bee diecast medallions. The styling was revised in 1970 to include a split chrome grille treatment. This Super Bee from that year was repainted Sublime Green with a contrasting black vinyl roof and Super Bee tail striping. The floors and quarter panels are described as rust-free. Features include quad headlights, a Harwood fiberglass cowl hood with retention pins, a driver-side mirror, and a black trunk-mounted spoiler.
Polished aluminum five-spoke wheels are wrapped in tires with black sidewall lettering.
The cockpit is trimmed with black vinyl bucket seats up front and a bench in the rear, matched to the door panels, padded dash, headliner, carpeting, and floor mats. Amenities include walnut dash trim, a trunk-mounted fuel cell, and a sport steering wheel. The interior shows some wear on the sun visors and other areas, as shown in the gallery to the right.
Instrumentation includes a factory 150-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, a column-mounted AutoMeter 8K-rpm tachometer, and dash-mounted aftermarket gauges for the oil pressure and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer tracks mileage, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The big-block 440ci V8 was rated at 390 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque when new and has been upgraded with an 1,150-cfm Holley Dominator carburetor, nitrous, a replacement Mopar wiring harness, Brodix aluminum heads, and more. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted TorqueFlite A727 3-speed automatic transmission with a reverse valve and a Dana 60 rear end.
Stopping power comes from four-wheel disc brakes with cross-drilled rotors. Additional photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.
The sale includes a variety of uninstalled original parts including a 440ci engine, an A727 automatic transmission, a drive shaft, a water pump core, and the original brakes.
