This 1969 Oldsmobile 442 convertible is a cosmetically restored muscle car with a numbers-matching 400ci V8 backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission. It benefits from a rebuilt suspension, a new power-operated top, a center console with woodgrain trim, and a modern sound system with Bluetooth connectivity. Finished in black with white striping over a black vinyl interior, this second-generation 442 is now offered with the removed previous radio and a clear Illinois title.
The 442 model was built on the General Motors A-body platform when it was born in 1964 as a high-performance variant of the Cutlass. It became a standalone model in 1968 with an all-new second-generation exterior design. In 1969 the grille, trunk lid, and paint schemes were revised. This 442 convertible from that year was restored and repainted black with white accent striping. The body has a newly replaced black cloth power-operated retractable top, quad headlights, prominent 442 fender badging, and a dual exhaust system. Per the selling dealer, the repaint was applied a number of years ago and does have some imperfections, particularly on the deck lid, as shown in photos, but there is no rust or bondo. A walk-around video can be viewed in the carousel.
Magnum 500-style 14-inch wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.
The reportedly original cabin is furnished with black vinyl fold-forward bucket seats up front and a bench in the rear, coordinated with the lap belts, full-length console, dash, door panels, and carpeting. The face of the dash and upper surfaces of the console are accented with simulated wood grain veneer. Features include a heater, a modern Bluetooth-enabled radio, and speakers in the kick panels.
Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, 7K-rpm tachometer with an inset clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads approximately 74k miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The numbers-matching 400ci V8 was rated at 350 horsepower. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 3-speed automatic transmission. Cold start and driving videos are available for viewing.
Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel. The seller notes that the suspension was rebuilt as part of the restoration. Handling is assisted by both power steering and power brakes.
The sale includes the removed previous radio, which appears to be original according to the seller, as well as a folder of photos of the restoration process.
AUTOHUNTER ADMIN UPDATE 6/27/22 12:57 PM: Photos of the restoration and an updated photo of the odometer have been added to the gallery. The revised mileage on the vehicle is 74,739.
AUTOHUNTER ADMIN UPDATE 6/27/22 2:04 PM: Per the selling, the current mileage is 74,062 as originally indicated. A photo of the odometer with that reading is provided.
AUTOHUNTER ADMIN UPDATE 6/28/22 8:45 AM: The listing has been amended to reflect new information provided by the selling dealer regarding the condition of the paint. Photos have been added as well.
AUTOHUNTER ADMIN UPDATE 7/3/22 10:51 AM: The photos of the restoration album have been removed per the selling dealer's request. This album is not for this vehicle.

Sorry I don’t have a restoration binder. It was restored quite a while ago and has changed hands since then.

I encourage anyone interested in this car to contact me directly. I realize it’s a holiday weekend but I’m available by phone or email anytime.
FYI - there are pictures of a restoration binder near the end of the pictures above. These are not related to this car and I’m not sure how/why there were added to this auction. I’ve asked AH to remove them. Sorry for any confusion.
@mikesupreme – What about the engine? ...
Sorry. I’m not sure I understand your question. The engine is original to the car. You can see a picture of the vin stamping.
@AutoCollective – I’m pretty sure it’s a 350 trans. I can’t verify the mileage. ...
