This unmodified 1979 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 two-door sport coupe was assembled in Van Nuys, California and originally issued to Terry Larsen Chevrolet in Webster, Wisconsin. It shows 28,952 miles on the odometer and is equipped with the reportedly numbers-matching combination of a 5.7-liter V8 and 4-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes special Z28 striping, fender flares, front disc brakes, and a Pioneer radio. Finished in Carmine Metallic over a black vinyl interior, this second-generation Camaro is now offered by the selling dealer with a window sticker, owner’s booklets, a build sheet, and a clear title.
The Camaro grew into an all-new second generation in 1970 on the unibody General Motors F-body platform. Engineering changes were applied to the bumpers and overall design in the mid-1970s to adhere to federal safety standards. In 1978, the bumpers were changed to urethane material and amber turn signals were added at the rear. This Camaro coupe from the following year is finished in Carmine Metallic with special red and orange Z/28-branded striping. The body features a front air dam, black recessed headlight enclosures, fender flares, body-color mirrors, mud flaps, and an integrated rear spoiler. The selling dealer notes that the paint is believed to be original and it shows some minor cosmetic issues including dings on the front passenger-side fender and areas that have been touched up.
Factory 15-inch body-color wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.
The cabin is furnished with black vinyl high-back bucket seats, matched to the door panels, console, dash, and cut pile carpeting. Amenities include tinted glass, a Pioneer AM/FM radio, a Z/28 steering wheel, and a spare tire in the carpeted trunk.
Instrumentation includes a 130-mph speedometer, a non-working 7K-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 28,952 miles, which the selling dealer believes are original miles. True mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The 350ci V8 is fed by a four-barrel carburetor and features a high-energy ignition system. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission. According to the selling dealer, the engine and gearbox is numbers-matching.
Other features include power steering and power brakes with discs up front and drums at the rear. The sport-tuned suspension uses front and rear stabilizer bars. Additional photos showing the underside are available in the gallery to the right.
The sale includes owner’s booklets, a build sheet, and a window sticker showing an original MSRP of $7,103.35 including options and destination. A $125 title procurement fee will be charged for out-of-state buyers. Minnesota residents are responsible for sales tax, license, and title procurement fees. The selling dealer has posted a video in the gallery that shows the car in greater detail.
