This 1967 Chevrolet Nova SS is finished in Butternut Yellow over a black vinyl interior and is powered by a 283ci V8 engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Sold new in California, the car has spent its entire life there and was acquired by the seller in 2013. It retains its original engine, transmission, and rear end and features numerous performance upgrades with the original parts included in the sale. Documented with the original Protect-O-Plate, this Nova SS is now offered for sale on a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Originally finished in Butternut Yellow, the car was refinished by the previous owner in the early 2000's. New old stock items such as the grille, SS emblem, and chrome locking gas cap were sourced to replace aging pieces. The body panel gaps were a focal point during the refinish and appear uniform and tight. All exterior sheet metal is rust free, the seller notes a small rust spot becoming visible in the trunk floor.
Factory 14” Rallye wheels are mounted to BF Goodrich Silvertown redline radial tires on all four corners, installed five years ago. The factory drum brakes have been upgraded to power-assisted discs in the front, while the rear retains the original style drums. The steering has been recently serviced with s rebuilt steering box, new linkage with polyurethane bushings, and a ball-bearing idler arm conversion. The suspension has been serviced as well with the installation of Moog ball joints, Bilstein gas-filled shocks, Calvert traction bars, and Church Boys multi-leaf rear springs.
The interior is features black vinyl bucket seats with the signature SS-trim “skunk stripes” down the middle, with matching black carpeting, door panels, dash, and headliner. The dash has been fully restored with new trim panels as well as controls for the heater and an original style radio, though the seller notes the radio works intermittently. A center console between the front seats houses the polished shifter for the 4-speed manual transmission, surrounded by a silver trim plate with "SS" badging.
Instrumentation includes a sweeping 120-mph speedometer along with a NOS "ribbon-style" tachometer mounted to the steering column. A Shiftworks Sport Gauge conversion was installed, allow for supplementary gauges including fuel level, voltage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer reads 93k miles, of which 25k miles have been added by the seller over seven years of ownership.
The 283ci V8 engine is original to the car, and has been upgraded with several performance modifications. These include a custom grind camshaft, pushrods, and lifters, Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, aluminum intake manifold Hedman Elite headers, Pertronics ignition, MSD plug wires and dual exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers. The Saginaw 4-speed manual transmission is original to the car as well and has been rebuilt with a new Hayes clutch, throw-out bearing, and linkage. The factory 10-bolt rear end is also original and features a 3.08:1 gear ratio. In addition to items mentioned previously, recent service work includes new axle seals & bearings, and an oil change.
Additional photos showing the underside are provided in the gallery.
The sale includes all records from 2013 when the seller acquired the car, as well as the original replaced parts. Some factory documentation is also included such as the original Protect-O-Plate, owner’s manual, and the original selling dealer license plate frames.
