This 1958 Mercedes-Benz 220S Cabriolet is finished in copper over a brown leather interior and is powered by a 2.2-liter inline-6 cylinder engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. It is one of 2,178 examples produced between 1956 and 1959. The car was restored by a previous owner and is in good mechanical condition. Located in Chula Vista, California, this 220S is now offered for sale with previous registration plates from Puerto Rico, Mexico, and California, on a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in a deep copper metallic and features brightwork throughout, including chrome grille, bumpers, and window trim. The chrome itself is in good condition and free of pitting or corrosion. Fender-mounted turn signals are equipped on top of the trademark ponton fenders, while the grille features various badges. Additional features include a power antenna, a locking gas door, and dual side mirrors.
Factory 13” polished wheels are feature center caps finished matching the body with polished exterior trim rings. BF Goodrich Silvertown replica whitewall tires measuring 185/80 are mounted on all four corners.
The interior features brown leather seats, complete with factory style vertical pleated inserts. The door panels are upholstered to match, while plush brown carpeting covers the floor. A full wood dash is featured and houses the factory original radio with a center speaker and heater controls.
Behind the white two-spoke steering wheel sits the instrumentation cluster, consisting of a 110-mph speedometer and accompanying gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. An analog clock resides in the upper dashboard near the radio. The five-digit odometer reads 58k miles, and true mileage is unknown.
The carbureted 2.2-liter inline-six M180 engine is original to the car and retains most of its original components, including polished valve cover, air cleaner, and radiator. Power is sent to the rear wheels through the column-shifted 4-speed manual transmission.
Additional photographs of the underside are provided in the gallery.
The sale includes additional vintage license plates from when the car was registered in California, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.
