This 1952 MG TD Midget two-door roadster has a refurbished interior and custom touches such as auxiliary driving lights and embroidered floor mats. It is powered by a carbureted 1,250cc inline-4 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Finished in white with a tan retractable cloth top over a green vinyl interior, this TD is now offered with a clear title.
The T-Type series of British sports cars from the MG Car Company debuted in the late 1930s as a variety of two-seaters. A model called the TD Midget was brought to market in 1950 on the MG Y-Type chassis as an open-cab vehicle with a retractable top. This white TD from 1952 is topped with a retractable tan cloth roof. The exterior features chrome bumpers with over-riders and a full-size spare tire at the rear. Features include auxiliary lamps, green grille vanes, dual fender-mounted mirrors, a fold-flat windshield, and a chrome exhaust outlet.
Steel 15-inch wheels with chrome hubcaps are wrapped in tires with black sidewall lettering.
The open two-seater interior is fitted with a reupholstered green vinyl split-bench seat, matching door panels, and black carpeting. The dash face is covered with a green applique and a tan center trim plate. Features include MG-embroidered floor mats, a banjo-style steering wheel, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, and lap belts.
Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer, 6K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the oil pressure, water temperature, and amps. There is no fuel gauge, but there is a warning light that illuminates when three gallons remain. The 5-digit odometer shows 2,502 miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The carbureted 1,250cc XPAG inline-4 sends power to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted 4-speed manual transmission.
