This 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle has been restored and given a fresh paint job and a reupholstered interior. It is powered by a 1,600cc flat-4 paired with a 4-speed manual transaxle and features bright exterior trim, a custom steering wheel, and a radio. Finished in metallic silver over a red vinyl interior, this Super Beetle is now offered with a clear Georgia title in the seller’s name.
With origins dating back to the late-1930s, the compact Beetle initially carried the internal designation of Type 1 and made its way to various world markets by the 1940s. Design and engineering changes were applied in the years that followed. By the 1970s, the Beetle had received a larger rear window, enlarged taillamps, and a taller wrap-around windshield. Impact bumpers were added in 1974 in alignment with federal safety standards. This Super Beetle from that year was repainted in a custom shade of metallic silver. Equipment includes chrome brightwork, fender-mounted marker lamps, a driver-side mirror, window visors, and a dual exhaust system.
Steel 15-inch wheels with bright VW-branded hubcaps and tires with black sidewall lettering connect the car to the road.
The cabin is fitted with red vinyl bucket seats at the front and a bench in the rear as well as contrasting black materials for the door panels, dash, and flooring. Features include lap belts, a custom two-tone steering wheel, and a push-button AM/FM radio.
Instrumentation includes a VDO 100-mph speedometer and a fuel gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 62K miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The air-cooled twin-port 1,600cc flat-4 engine at the rear transfers power to the back wheels via a floor-shifted 4-speed manual transaxle.
The body rides on a MacPherson strut front suspension. Stopping power is provided by drum brakes.
A spare tire and miscellaneous spare parts will go with the vehicle, and a walk-around and cold start video is available for viewing.
