This 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire convertible has been driven fewer than 700 miles since receiving a three-year cosmetic and mechanical restoration that was completed in 2021. Power comes from the original, rebuilt 394ci V8 paired with the original, rebuilt Roto-Hydramatic 3-speed automatic transmission, according to the seller. Equipment includes newer Silvertown whitewall bias-ply tires, power-assisted front disc brakes, and a center console. Finished in Garnet Red with a power-operated top over a red leather and vinyl interior, this first-generation Starfire is now offered with restoration receipts, an owner’s manual, a convertible top manual, and a clear Michigan title in the seller’s name.
The Starfire name was originally applied to luxury convertible trim levels in the 98 DeLuxe model lineup. In 1961, it emerged as a standalone model on the General Motors B-body platform, sharing a wheelbase with the Super 88. This Starfire convertible from the following year underwent a multi-year restoration with an emphasis on originality, featuring a repaint in Garnet Red complemented by replated brightwork and a power-operated retractable white top. Features include quad headlights, a power antenna, and a dual exhaust system.
Steel 14-inch wheels with full covers are wrapped in BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall bias-ply tires.
The interior is equipped with bucket front and bench rear seating upholstered with red leather and red pleated vinyl inserts, matched to the door panels, dash, and carpeting. Equipment includes power windows, a power driver's seat, a non-functional radio, a center console, and a carpeted trunk. According to the seller, all of the carpeting is original, but the cabin carpeting shows signs of aging.
Instrumentation is comprised of a 120-mph speedometer and a fuel gauge accompanied by a console-mounted 6K-rpm tachometer. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 81K miles, which the seller states is an accurate reading.
The reportedly original 394ci V8 runs on premium pump fuel and has accrued fewer than 700 miles since being rebuilt. Power is fed to the rear wheels via the reportedly original, rebuilt Roto-Hydramatic 3-speed automatic transmission.
Steering is power-assisted. Front disc brakes have been added along with a dual-circuit master brake cylinder.
The sale includes restoration receipts, an owner’s manual, and a power top manual.

@Redman – How old are the tires. ...
There isn't a date code. My guess is that they were bought in 2016, (before my ownership). They are in good condition with no evidence of dry rot.

@jboy – Are there any fluid leaks? Do all gauges work properly? Any electrical issues? ...
There is a slight weeping, probably at the rear main seal. All gauges work, even the clock. No electrical issues. Everything works except the radio.

@Redman – Hi, can you tell me how old the top is? Does this car have Air condition? Were the body mounts replaced? How much metal repair? ...
The top was replaced by the previous owner and is in excellent condition. There is no air. The body mounts were not replaced. No panels required replacing, only the rear bumper.
