Vehicle Story

This rust-free, original paint and garaged 1983 Mercedes-Benz 380SL has been with the seller for 8 years and is powered by a 3.8L V8 engine backed by an automatic transmission. Features include color matched removable hardtop and new cloth soft convertible top, aftermarket aluminum wheels, cold air conditioning, aftermarket radio, recent service of new transmission seals, rebuilt pump, new valve covers, and heater motor. This original paint ivory cream 1983 Mercedes-Benz 380SL with chocolate leather interior comes with extensive service documentation, original owner’s manual, a clean Carfax report, and a clear Virginia title in the seller’s name.

This Mercedes is wearing the original factory applied ivory cream finish on the body and removable hard top. Features include new brown cloth soft top with 3-panel plastic rear window, chrome front and rear bumpers with black rubber impact strips, fog lights, quad U.S. spec headlights, U.S. spec taillights with integrated reverse lights, body color matched hard convertible boot, power antenna, chrome mirrors, and mid-body side impact strip. The body shows some minor flaws expected with a car of this age and the right front fender has bubbling, according to the seller.

A set of 10-spoke aftermarket aluminum wheels are wrapped with radial tires. The seller states the original wheels are not included with the sale except for the trunk mounted spare.

The bucket seats with head rests have been recovered in chocolate leather by a previous owner. Interior features include chocolate door panels and center console with arm rest, wood grain accents, and automatic transmission shifter. Additional features include brown carpet with chocolate vinyl dashboard with an aftermarket radio. Additional photos can be seen in the carousel to the right.

A 150-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer with integrated clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, fuel level, and economy are mounted in a black panel ahead of the driver.

The power is provided by a 3.8L V8 engine backed by an automatic transmission. According to the seller, recent service includes new transmission seals, transmission pump rebuild, new valve covers, timing chain and guide inspection, air conditioning freon charge, and replacement of the heater fan motor.

This unibody Mercedes convertible is factory equipped with independent front and rear suspension. The stopping power is provided by power 4-wheel disc brakes.

The seller will include service records, original owner’s manual, a new soft convertible top and the factory color matched hard convertible top, and the original spare tire with the sale.
