This 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 SportsRoof has been driven approximately 4,000 miles since undergoing a top-to-bottom restoration and receives power from a rebuilt 302ci V8 paired with a wide-ratio 4-speed manual transmission. It was originally allocated to Bill Ellis Ford in Rialto, California and reportedly remained in California long-term before being relocated to the New England region where it resides today. Equipment includes a shaker hood with an integrated tachometer, high-back bucket front seats, and a sun visor autographed by professional racer Parnelli Jones. Finished in Yellow with black accent striping over a black vinyl interior, this first-generation Mustang is now offered by the selling dealer with receipts, an owner’s manual, a window sticker, a Marti report, and a clear title.
This 1970 Mustang Boss 302 SportsRoof reportedly retains its original body panels. It received a restoration and a full repaint in its original Yellow (color code D/#3470-A) with black accent striping beginning at the hood and extending to hockey-stick stripes on each side with 302-specific identification. Exterior features include a chin spoiler, a shaker hood with retention pins and a hood-mounted tachometer, color-keyed mirror caps, chrome badging, a dual-exhaust system, and aluminum window louvers coated in flat black.
Chrome 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.
The cockpit is furnished with reupholstered black vinyl high-back bucket seats at the front and a bench in the rear, matched to the door panels, dash, headliner, and carpeting, all of which are said to be in good condition per the selling dealer. The passenger-side sun visor was signed by professional race driver Parnelli Jones. Amenities include tinted glass, Mustang-branded rubber floor mats, a Hurst shifter, a Philco push-button AM radio, a cigarette lighter, and a space-saver spare tire in the trunk.
Information is relayed through a 120-mph speedometer, the hood-mounted 8K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 4,738 miles, which is reflective of the mileage driven since the restoration was completed. The true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The 302ci 4V V8 has a date-coded block and has been blueprinted and balanced, reportedly accruing roughly 1,500 miles since its full rebuild. The most recent oil service was carried out in early 2022. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a wide-ratio Toploader 4-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lok rear differential with 3.91:1 gearing.
Stopping power comes from power-assisted disc brakes at the front and drums at the rear. The steering is a quick-ratio system. Chassis rigidity is augmented through a competition suspension and a front sway bar. Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel to the right and show factory markings where applicable.
The sale includes receipts, an owner’s manual, a Marti report, and a window sticker showing the original $4,054 retail price.
