This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS is finished in Black Cherry Metallic with white stripes over a white vinyl interior. Having undergone a frame-off restoration approximately 9 years ago, the SS is powered by a 396ci L34 V8 engine mated to a Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission. Documented with the original build sheet, the car is equipped with a factory cowl induction hood, bucket seats, air conditioning, heavy-duty suspension, and front disc brakes. Located in Gardena, California, this 1970 Chevelle SS 396 is now offered for sale on a clean California title in the seller's name.
Finished in its factory shade of Black Cherry metallic with white SS stripes, the car underwent a full respray during its frame-off restoration. Originally equipped with a black vinyl roof, a previous owner replaced it with a white one, which shows no signs of fading, tearing, or bubbling. During the restoration, body panel fitment was heavily emphasized, with the car showing consists and even gaps between all panels. The car is equipped with a single side mirror on the driver's door as well as polished wheel well trim, chrome door handles, and dual exhaust with chrome tips.
Factory SS Rallye wheels are finished in black with silver spokes and wrapped in BF Goodrich white letter Radial TA tires on all four corners. The car was ordered with the JL2 power front disc brake options and the F41 heavy-duty suspension package.
The car was originally equipped with a black interior from the factory but has since been changed to white by a previous owner. It features bucket seats in the front with a center console in between, which houses the polished shifter for the Muncie 4-speed transmission. Factory style door panels contain polished hardware for the manual roll-down windows and door release. The black dash is capped with a black factory pad and shows no splitting or cracking, while the dash face retains factory controls for the heating/air conditioning system and factory radio.
Instrumentation behind the factory steering wheel includes a 120mph speedometer and 7k rpm tachometer, in addition to readouts for fuel, oil pressure, engine temperature, and voltage. Since restoration, the car has been driven less than 500 miles.
The L34 396ci V8 engine is not original to the car but correct and was factory rated for 350-horsepower when new. It retains many factory components like the cowl hood induction air cleaner and chrome valve covers. It has been upgraded with Jethot coated Hooker headers and a 3” aluminized exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. The carburetor was rebuilt last year, along with cleaning and refinishing the gas tank, new fuel lines, and a new fuel pump. Power is sent to the rear wheels through the Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission and positraction rear end with 3.31 gears. The seller does note adjustment being needed to the shift linkage as 1st gear pops out occasionally. The most recent servicing includes a new battery was installed in as many weeks while an oil change with AMSOIL oil was performed in the last month.

The sale includes a framed original build sheet, various service records, and an owner's manual.
