Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1970 Ford Bronco Sport four-wheel-drive SUV has been in the same family for the past 31 years. It comes equipped with a variety of modifications, including later-model front disc brakes and power steering, and a 1.5-inch Wild Horses suspension lift. The upgraded 351ci Windsor V8 is connected to electronic ignition, an Edelbrock carburetor, James Duff Inc. headers, an AOD 4-speed automatic transmission, and a 2-speed transfer case. Interior features include a column-mounted shifter, center console, lap belts, an aftermarket head unit, rear speakers, and the back seat from a Mitsubishi Montero. Finished in green with a white roof over a two-tone gray vinyl interior, this first-generation Bronco is available now with the original owner's manual, a bill of sale, and a clear Colorado title in the current owner's name.

EXTERIOR - FEATURES

The green exterior shows signs of patina. The hood scoop, bolt-on rear fender flares, and top are finished in white. Brightwork includes the bumpers, bodyside and rocker panel accents, mirror caps, and greenhouse trim. The seller notes rust is present in the door frames and on the fold-down tailgate, which can be seen in the gallery to the right. Additionally, there is are two dings on the driver's side; one is near the front marker light and the other is by the rear gas cap.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

This Bronco rolls on a set of silver aftermarket wheels and BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A raised-white-letter tires.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with two-tone gray vinyl front bucket seats, a two-tone gray vinyl rear bench seat from a Mitsubishi Montero, body-color doors with black vinyl inserts, and a cream metal dashboard with a cracked black top pad. It comes equipped with a column-mounted automatic shifter, an aftermarket audio head unit, black rubber floor mats, a floor-mounted transfer case lever, manual window cranks, a center console with four cup holders and a locking storage compartment, front lap belts, and rear speakers.

INTERIOR - GAUGES

Vehicle information is displayed on a gear selection indicator, a 100-mph speedometer, and gauges for the alternator, fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. According to the seller, there are 191,500 miles on the odometer, which means it has rolled over once. They state that figure is accurate but there are only 70K miles on the newer engine.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Under the hood is an upgraded 351ci Windsor V8 that has been outfitted with electronic ignition, an Edelbrock 1406 600-cfm carburetor, an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, and James Duff Inc. long-tube headers. It routes power to the road through an AOD 4-speed automatic transmission, a 2-speed transfer case, and an open differential with 4.10:1 gearing. Last year, the oil was changed and the other vital fluids were checked.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Other enhancements include a 1.5-inch Wild Horses suspension lift, the front axle and disc brakes from a 1976 Bronco, and the power steering from a 1975 model.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The original owner's manual and a bill of sale will be included with the purchase of the vehicle.

It’s just amazing how much we are willing to pay for cars and trucks that we used to buy used for 5k all day long ,while these broncos are cool I find it wild that a truck with so much rust and holes in the floor boards is still worth as much as a new truck.. I’ve always wondered if we cause the increase in price ourselves or if it’s dealers at auctions who simply started jacking up prices on random vehicles as they run out of classics then moved on the the 80’s and 90’s .. I hope this gets a complete frame off and the new owner drives it for another 20yrs …the classic upgrades are a great additions to this and add value and this would make a great work truck too many older vehicles are being stored away and lost from the public eye..
