Vehicle Story

This custom-built 1951 Mercury two-door hot rod develops power from a 350ci V8 crate engine equipped with a Holley Sniper fuel injection system, ceramic-coated headers, and an MSD ignition system. Its Turbo 350 3-speed automatic transmission transfers torque to the rear Cragar wheels and whitewall tires. Additional upgrades include an insulated cabin with Dakota Digital gauges, a center console, and accent striping. Finished in metallic purple with chameleon flames over an ivory vinyl interior, this coupe is now offered with a clear Oregon title in the seller’s name.

This 1951 Mercury coupe was refinished in a deep metallic purple finish with chameleon gradient flames extending from the nose down each side. The body has been modified to incorporate a DeSoto grille, dual spotlights, frenched headlights and taillights, Flowmaster mufflers, and shaved handles for the doors and the trunk lid. The paint finish is protected by a 5-year ceramic coating.

Five-spoke chrome Cragar wheels are wrapped in whitewall tires.

The cabin is furnished with sound-damping material, reupholstered ivory vinyl front and rear bench seats, matching door panels, and replacement dark blue carpeting. Additional features include a custom center console with cup holders, all-weather floor mats, an upgraded steering wheel, and accent striping on the dash.

Instrumentation consists of a set of Dakota Digital gauges with a speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary readouts. The odometer reads 2.7K miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The 350ci V8 crate engine is dressed in chrome accents throughout the engine bay. It is cooled by an aluminum radiator and features upgrades including a high-torque starter, ceramic-coated headers, an MSD electronic ignition system, an Edelbrock air cleaner, and Holley Sniper EFI fuel injection. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a Turbo 350 3-speed automatic transmission.

The front end uses architecture from Fat Man Fabrications. Steering is power-assisted. Front discs and rear drums provide power-assisted braking.

The seller has provided short videos showing the exterior, interior, engine bay, a cold-start sequence, and the engine at idle in the gallery to the right.
