1951 MERCURY 4-DR SEDAN

OVERVIEW

This custom 1951 Mercury project car has been with the seller for six years and is powered by a 350ci V8 that has been bored .030 over and paired with a TH400 automatic transmission. Features include frenched headlights, a custom grille, custom body modifications, and several newer parts. Power features include steering, windows, antenna, and brakes. Finished in metallic Purple Haze with a purple tweed interior, this Mercury is available now and comes with uninstalled parts and an Ontario, Canada vehicle permit in the seller's name.

EXTERIOR - FEATURES

The exterior of this customized 1951 Mercury four-door sedan features shaved color-keyed bumpers, a shaved hood with rounded corners, a custom grille and grille shell, and frenched headlights with newer LED headlights. Additional features include a windshield visor, dummy spotlights, a power antenna, shaved bodyside trim, shaved door handles, rear wheel skirts, custom taillights, and a shaved trunk. The seller notes minor bubbling in the paint below two of the windows.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 5-spoke aluminum wheels is wrapped in newer BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall radial tires.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The front bucket seats, rear seat, trim, door panels, and center console are upholstered in purple tweed with plum vinyl accents. Interior features include purple tweed floor inserts with plum vinyl accents, gray rubber floor mats, a console-mounted automatic shifter, a tilt steering column, a wood-rimmed steering wheel and power steering, brakes, and windows. Additional features include a newer AM/FM/CD stereo with a subwoofer, a steel dashboard upholstered with purple tweed, purple accent lighting, and a fully upholstered trunk. The seller states the interior was redone in the early 1990s and needs to be redone.

INTERIOR - GAUGES

A set of Dakota Digital gauges with a speedometer, 6K-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, voltage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure is located in a billet aluminum panel ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 155,262 miles, 450 of which were added during current ownership, but the true mileage on the vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 350ci V8 bored .030 over backed by a TH400 automatic transmission. Underhood features include power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, and an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor. Polished aluminum features include the valve covers, air conditioning dryer, air conditioning compressor, alternator, four-barrel intake, and air cleaner. An oil change was performed in 2019.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Mercury's chassis has been upgraded with a late-model GM front suspension clip and a solid rear drive axle with air shocks. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. According to the seller, newer front ball joints, power brakes, and rear axle seals have been installed. A dual-exhaust system with Thrush glasspack mufflers exits at the rear. ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The seller states that a safety check was performed in August of 2019. The seller will include an uninstalled water pump and ignition coil with the sale.
