Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1964 Pontiac GTO is powered by a 389ci V8 engine backed by an automatic transmission. Some of the factory options include a power antenna; a push-button radio; a rear speaker; an underhood lamp; a tilt steering column; power steering, brakes, and windows; factory air conditioning; and power seats. This Marimba Red GTO with a Light Saddle vinyl interior is available now and comes from the selling dealer with the removed original wheels and center caps, uninstalled miscellaneous items and parts, PHS documentation, a reproduction window sticker, receipts, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR - FEATURES

This GTO has been refinished in the original color of Marimba Red (code LL) as verified by the data tag. Features include chrome bumpers, quad headlights, a chrome grille with black inserts, hood scoops, a chrome driver-side mirror cap, and electric wipers with a windshield washer. Additional features include GTO emblems, rocker and wheel well trim, a chrome taillight panel with Pontiac lettering, a rear fuel filler, and optional reverse lights.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of silver Pontiac Rallye I wheels with chrome center caps and trim rings is wrapped with BFGoodrich Silvertown redline radial tires.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The front bucket seats, rear seat, trim, and door panels are upholstered in the correct Light Saddle vinyl as verified by trim code 216 on the data tag. Features include a power driver’s seat; Light Saddle carpeting with tan rubber floor mats; a center console with an automatic shifter; power windows, steering, and brakes; a Light Saddle steel dashboard with a brown vinyl top pad; factory air conditioning; and a push-button AM radio with a power antenna and a rear speaker. In addition, the cabin is equipped with an optional factory tilt steering column with a 4-spoke sport steering wheel, a dome light, a glove box light, a parking brake warning light, Soft-Ray tinted glass, and a rear defogger.

INTERIOR - GAUGES

A 120-mph speedometer, 7K-rpm tachometer, fuel gauge, and warning lights for the battery and oil pressure are located in an engine-turned panel ahead of the driver. A factory Pontiac vacuum gauge is mounted at the front of the center console. An aftermarket set of white-faced oil pressure, voltage, and coolant temperature gauges is mounted under the dashboard. The odometer reads 101,823 miles but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 389ci V8 engine backed by an automatic transmission. Underhood features include power steering, power brakes, a windshield washer, an underhood light, chrome valve covers, and a chrome air cleaner. Although this car came with air conditioning from the factory, the original underhood air conditioning box and equipment have been removed and an aftermarket compressor and climate control system have been added.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This GTO is factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle with a Saf-T-Track differential. Braking is provided by power drum brakes. A full-length dual-exhaust system ends at the rear. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be found in the carousel to the right.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

A detailed video of the car can be seen below. The selling dealer will include the removed original wheels and center caps, uninstalled miscellaneous items and parts, PHS documentation, a reproduction window sticker, and receipts with the sale. They charge a $125 documentation fee for out-of-state buyers; Minnesota residents are responsible for tax, license, and title procurement fees.

@Iraq2004 – This is a beautiful original muscle car—I applaud you! Just a few questions, please; What is the history of the car and how long have you had it? Is the engine original/numbers matching? Does the replacement A/C work? Do all gauges and accessories work? Given the location in Minnesota any issues with rust or bonding? Starts easily and no leaks, smoke or weeping? Anything the new owner would need to do immediately or is the car ready to be driven as is? Interior vinyl and carpet original or replacement? Many thanks—Mike ...

The previous owner finished the restoration on this car just in the last 2-3 years. The AC blows cold! The gauges, including the factory tachometer do work! Obviously when cold starting you need to pump it a couple times, but no smoking issues or anything like that. The car is ready to cruise right now, he did a very good job on the restoration and the car works nicely. Lots of docs including PHS and more. VERY highly optioned, TRUE GTO. Good luck bidding!
